Space Ship (not Fighter) games with PvP?
I want to drive a big space ship and blow up my friends. I do not want to drive a little bitty fighter. I do not want to command a fleet, unless that's secondary to controlling the space ship.
Options?
Non-space ships (airships, water ships, fantasy submarines, etc) are also an option.

Eve Online?
STO?
That's about all I can think of.

Is there a reason you can't play a naval game? I mean, I want to say World of Battleships just for a laugh. There are heaps of naval games; too bad they are pretty much all crap. You'll have to go for either MMO-style tank-and-resist stuff or hitpoint grindfests like Klingon Academy, which is pretty tragic.

Battlestations Pacific allows for some of this, although depending on game mode it can also involve a lot of fleet management. Obviously, it's real-world air/navy rather than space, but I think there's a demo floating around to see if you like it.
Pirates of the Burning Sea is free to play, but again, real-world. It's like a slower-paced version of the afore-mentioned STO.

Star Trek Bridge Commander IIRC had a multiplayer compontent - never tried that part myself though so I can't comment to quality. Of course getting a copy these days might prove difficult.

Are the X series still on sale on Steam?
Didn't at least one of that series have MP?

I don't believe so, and I've played most of them.weemadando wrote:Are the X series still on sale on Steam?

I have fond memories of NavyField though I think it became somewhat Pay-To-Win recently though it has been quite a while.
But I pretty much reccomend EVE Online and I can even get you into Goonswarm to jump start you to the only "fun" part of the game.

Blayne man you should know that in order to sponsor somebody they need to be within punching range for when you both get banned.
Re: Space Ship (not Fighter) games with PvP?
I'm not aware of that restriction; not that I don't already know people in Jersey who can help out in that regard.

Get Nexus: Jupiter Incident. Actually we just released it on GOG.com
You need Hamachi to get TCP/IP play to work via LAN, but it's worth it.

NavyField is the worst game. It runs best in Windows ME, has a needlessly complex interface even as needlessly complex interfaces go, and looks terrible. It also does nothing to make things clear, and looks terrible even by ME standards.Blayne wrote:I have fond memories of NavyField though I think it became somewhat Pay-To-Win recently though it has been quite a while.

Uhm. No. not even the last one (X Rebirth, still in testing stages).weemadando wrote:Are the X series still on sale on Steam?

And apart from a few kids, none in their forums (fanbase) is really asking for this feature.
Mixed feelings. I'm not a fucking fire control computer, and I don't see why I should play a game where I have to be one (manual fire guns). It's pretty fun as long as autofirecontrol can handle guns, too bad it doesn't last.NavyField is the worst game.
Seconded, this is actually pretty awesome. I have never managed to end the SP campaign due to weird shit happening in some missions, but it has all you could want from a space game.Get Nexus: Jupiter Incident.
I'm nobody. Nobody at all. But the secrets of the universe don't mind. They reveal themselves to nobodies who care.

Good art has function as well as form. I hesitate to spend more than $50 on decorations of any kind unless they can be used to pummel an intruder into submission. -Sriad
