I'm suprised that there has been no mentioned of the game now that is has been out for a month. It's a pretty good game though the boss fights are a bit difficult

Honestly I stopped caring about the whole series after VIII. The game was absolutely awesome but since IX was pretty much garbage it pretty much put me off any sequels.

MMX ist and old school 90 degrees turn RPG like MM4/MM5. A few HOMM3/HOMM4 Characters show up. The game is not easy and the classes are not well balanced e.g. ranged weapon suck and only one class is able to get dark magic(required to detect secrets and traps).

I have to agree with critics of this control scheme (read: Yathzee), the 90ยบ grid movement was a necessity of the time, but nowadays I can't get over how pointlessly nostalgic it is (although I do like retro graphics, I have the same issue with not using more than 16 color palettes).

Guess it's a taste thing, but it is making playing through Grimrock very hard, I just can't get into it.

The game is difficult and I had to use tactics and NPCs healing me during the battles to win some. After I downloaded the patch I couldn't do this NPC trick any more. Don't worry, that's where cheat engine comes into play. :D

Its less flexible than MM6 which was when I came on board the franchise. For example MM6 allowed you to fly over inaccessible spots, and also allowed you to set multiple beacons for teleportation purposes. MM 10 only allows one per party (not per player character).

Another problem is this game is bugged like hell. If I was an early access user I could understand. However... I got the deluxe version on CD. One would think they had ironed out some basic bugs by the time its released on a CD as opposed to online. In fact even with the patch they still didn't get rid of the bug which prevented me from getting a quest to advance the main plot. I had to look online, go into a file and delete a line of code to fix the issue. However, after downloading the patch they prevent me from accessing at least 2 dungeons required to advance the main quest. So I am kind of stuck. Literally the game will not load if I try to enter a particular level on those dungeons (loading up games where I had saved on another level helps).

On the plus side the patches gives better graphics and 3 new dungeons.

dont need a cheat engine as you can modify the various data and ini files using notepad such as changing stats of the item etc.

Well yeah, I discovered that to. While it was fun making my relic crossbow take 1000 + hit points, I switched it back to basic. I found I can also modify the files governing character classes and letting the characters learn every skill. Not that cure <insert condition> spells are required when you can pretty much rest most of those conditions off, and with CE you just hack the number of supplies. Hey its not my fault that MM10 refuses to allow you to stock up on supplies beyond a certain point like MM6.

This game is even more bugged than I thought.

I can't seem to get past the paladin promotion quest because the item you need to find is not there even though I followed the walkthru. No problem. Changing a bit of the code, I got a character to give me a quest repeatedly which involves me going to another character with an item (which I bypassed). I then change the reward for this quest to get the items I need for the Paladin promotion quest. Yet even with the items it doesn't work when I present it to the ghost that is supposed to promote me. Fuck that.

Not to be outdone, I then adjusted the code such that the reward for the quest is Paladin promotion. Now I am a Paladin.

I am not going to buy a ubisoft game again. The deluxe edition is bugged as hell. I expect a bug game in a beta version, not in the final version. Its impossible to complete the game because you cannot enter a particular dungeons.

Did you buy the CD or downloaded it? I got the CD version but when I have to change the code to get a quest necessary to complete the main storyline, that's a problem.

Also the sacred grove quest I find myself blocked by an invisible wall. I am not the only one with this problem as I have seen the complaints. To get around that I played around with a few lines of code so that my characters get that promotion for completing another quest as well the usual reward. Normally I expect to play the game, not go into files to adjust code, although that could be fun if you give them different abilities.

I downloaded it so that might be a reason why, but i know they patched the game a couple of times since release
