[STGOD] Preliminary Force Declarations & Rules
Posted: 2003-04-14 08:36pm
by phongn
This is preliminary and subject to debate
- General Rules
- Technology level matches that of Star Trek DS9. This does not mean you must use Star Trek technology, only that your capabilities be similar.
- You need not be human.
- Fleet size is limited to 400 major combatants, exclusive of fleet train.
- Imperial size
- Humans may choose a major geographic area of Earth as your starting point. This area will be well-developed.
- Humans may also choose to start off of Earth.
- Aliens may choose other planets than Earth.
- Terran-based humans will be granted up to eight offworld holdings that are relatively undeveloped. You may wish to concentrate on a smaller number of stronger colonial holdings
- Aliens colonial holdings will be determined on how much of their home planet they hold
- Non-Terran-power humans will be granted a bonus of two planets to reflect that they are less likely to be developed. Again, the same caveats apply: you may choose to increase development in a smaller number of colonies.

North American Union
History: The North American Union is a conglomeration of the large North American nation-states at the end of the last Great War and includes the Caribbean states. They have a technological lead in spaceflight, but their people are generally unsupporting of colonization, preferring to make the best of their holdings on Earth and Liberty. As such, expansion of American territory remains limited.
Government:The NAU is a federal republic with a government modelled on the old United States system. Taxes remain relatively low (especially in relation to nations formerlly belonging to the long-defunct European Union).
Terran Holdings: All of North America from Canada to Mexico and all of the Caribbean. Capital is in St. Louis, Missouri. Population is 425 million.
Extraterrestrial Holdings: Alpha Centauri: Liberty (M-Class world), well-developed, Columbia (Mars-like mining world). Liberty has a population of 300 million, Columbia has a population of 25 million.

The Imhinik Dynasty
Species: Reynari
Homeworld: Tihmaram (Greenhome), fourth planet orbiting the star Klih-Ahanam (Eye of Heaven)
Description: Reptillian centauroids. Adult females average about 5 feet high at the head, three feet at their back, and weigh around 170-200lbs. Luinihi, or asexual workers, tend to be smaller, a little more than 4 feet at the head and around 150lbs. Sexual males are even smaller, around 3 and 1/2 feet tall. The sex ratio is 3 females to five luinihi to 1 male. Females occupy all positions of power and importance, and though luinihi can own property and have full legal rights, because they are incapable of reproducing they are not considered part of the ancient clans that divided up pre-unification Tihmaram the way empires or nation-states divided up Earth and thus have no political power. Males are sub-sentient and considered joint property of their "harem" of females. When a Reynari female bears a male child, he is auctioned off shortly after birth (or given as a gift) to a powerful unattached female, who is expected to share her male with weaker unattached females from within her sub-clan (but not any of her half-sisters). In this manner, family circles of anywhere between three and six females are bonded. Female children inherit the status of the highest-ranked female of the circle. Luinihi are raised by the female circle but are expected to enter the world on their own once they reach adulthood. Some luinihi remain attached to their sisters and become their permanant companions in adulthood. Though incapable of sexual affection, luinihi are more than capable of forming deep bonds of friendship with other luinihi or females, related or not.
Because property and dynastic succession passes only through females, the clan councils (including the House Imhinik council, which is the de facto imperial government) are run entirely by females. Luinihi are employed as advisors, bodyguards, and soldiers in the House council courts. The House Imhinik has severely restricted military positions for females outside the Imhinik clan, and even for clan members, flag ranks are usually limited to members of the Matriarch's family circle. Luinihi, because they have no incentive to try to sieze power for themselves and are considered to be without clan attachments, make up most of the officer corps. Low ranking females from all clans are permitted to enlist in the military but are forbidden to rise above the junior noncommissioned ranks. Senior noncoms are almost exclusively luinihi.
The House Imhink, after hundreds of years of military operations, cultural imperialism, economic pressure, and scientific dominance, has gained the submission of the 11 other Great Houses and most of the Lesser and Minor Houses (nearly 1,500 clans in all) and controls all of Tihmaram. There is, legally, an entity called the Reynari Empire, but all positions of import are filled by Imhinik members. There is a Diet, a Congress of the Houses, but it has only an advisory role. Imhinik philosophy of government is similar to Confuscianism, complete with its equivilant to the "Mandate of Heaven", the Blessing of Klih-Ahanam. Everyone in society has a place, and it's everyone's duty to excel at what one was born to do, not aspire to higher positions (this philosophy can be somewhat flexible--for example, someone born into the "professional" class may be anything from a doctor to a scientist to an officer in the army). The lowest class is the merchant class. However, the richest class is also the merchant class.
The dynasty has been slowly spreading and has colonized four other worlds. One, the planet Imhinik, is nearly as fully developed as Tihmaram. The second planet colonized, Klih-Sehel (Heart of Heaven) is more sparsely settled but is an overall positive contributor to the imperial economy. The last two colonies are less than 100 years old and have not attained self-sufficency. In addition to these, there are a number of uninhabited star systems within the boundaries of the empire, some of which have small habitat stations with a few hundred or thousand residents. The two main star systems have hundreds of such habitats, and one very big one housing 100,000,000 Reynari in orbit of Tihmaram.
Order of battle to come later...

Pan-Slavic Republic
History:
The Pan-Slavic republic is a political entity formed from the primary ethnic group of Eastern Europe, the Slav. After centuries of weakness and exploitation, Eastern Europe finally ascended to a position of primacy in the world. As trade blossomed between the states of this region, the language and cultural barriers were gradually sliced away until a single homogenous blend emerged; after some time, the entirety of Eastern Europe came under the sway of the Romanovs of Russia. They ruled with the iron fist of totalitarianism and the cross of Orthodox Christianity.
But this was not the Eastern Europe of memory, but an altogether more developed and wealthier system. Ten years ago, a better educated but still exploited peasantry rebelled. The scale of the revolt swallowed the Imperial army and forced reactionaries to flee to other nations, and attempts at intervention were brushed aside. But, the aristocratic structure of the navy compelled the officers to scuttle their ships, and this loss also resulted in the loss of the Slavs' more distant colonies.
But the Pan-Slavic Republic is still vast, her revolutionary army among the best in known space, and it's peoples are compelled by the fires of revolution and nationalism.
Territories
Earth
All Europe east of the 1919 border of Poland, European Russia, the Balkans (southern border described by the southern borders of Romania, Serbia, and Montenegro), Siberia. Central Asia and Caucasus as protectorates.

Saturnine, Uranian, and Neptuniun colonies amounting to ~350 million persons
(Solar Administration Zone 2)
Miscellaneous Scattered Lagrange-Point and orbital colonies amounting to ~200 million persons.
(Space Station Administration)
Interstellar Colonies
Greater Republic System (formerly Tsaritsyn)
New Kiev

Administrative District 1
Total Population of ~25 million, mining system (notes: no habitable planets but significant mineral wealth)
Outpost System
Potemkin Naval Base (most distant settlement of PSR)
Total Population of ~150,000, all military personnel
Political Notes:
The PSR is naturally hostile to all reactionary and especially monarchist governments. At the same time, large numbers of former aristocrats remain in sympathetic nations and constantly agitate for renewed invasions. The PSR is a staunch supporter of democracy and will not often hesitate to come to the aid of a weak democratic power--if they can get away with it.
EDIT 4-21-03: Increased population of all territories due to the pushing back of the start date.

I know nothing about STGODing, but it sounds interesting and I'd love to give it a shot.
Vector Industries
Interstellar mining and manufacturing corporation/financial syndicate. Based on Earth, with corporate holdings consisting of Great Britain and Germany, and a few African protectorates. Not aggressively militaristic but able to defend itself, does business with a multitude of different entities.
Began as a defense-contracting company, eventually growing so dominant to the economies of Britain and Germany that it assumed formal control of them. Unable to expand into France due to communist takeover. Factories on Earth still produce spacecraft and weaponry, however, the primary focus of Vector's resources is now beyond Earth.
Interstellar corporate holdings; (located in the same system, fully under control by Vector)
Miltia; interstellar colony, very well-developed. Primarily a banking/administrative world. Population ~80 million.
Azredo; moderately well-developed processing/manufacturing world; also supplies the Vector Industries Security Force with armaments.
VI-01 and VI-02 - Two Mars-like mining colonies. Not developed; Vector is currently seeking out other worlds for expansion. Both contain significant wealth.
The rest of the system consists primarily of gas giants and useless worlds.
More to come as I think of it.

Asgard Stellar Empire
History:
Recruited primarly from the Scadanavian area of Earth (though with a major British contingent) the Asagard Stellar Empire hold eight major planetary colonies and most of the countries boardering the North Sea. The Capitol has recently been moved to the most important and higly developed colony world Valhalla. It's developed to the level of Earth of the near future. It's beginning the process of forsaking Earth for the stars.
Territory:
6 major planetary colonies and two based off moons similar to Jupiters moons.
The capital planet of Vahalla is home to three colonies: Trondhiem(planet) and the two moons, Hugnin and Mugnin. It has a system wide population of 900 million. They support the majority of the Empire's naval might and a large percentage of their other armed forces.
The other planetary colonies are self sufficient mining and agricultural worlds on colonized Earth like worlds. They support smaller, though developing shipyards. The majority of the military has been recruited from these worlds.
Politics:
The Empire is ruled by an Emperor whose power is limited only by the Senate which is poplarly elected. It has a House Common and a House Noble. Each are equal. Should war be formally declared then the Emperor is formally vested with absolute power untill hostilities are over.

The fleshed-out version:
The New Roman Empire
History:
As the colonization of the stars began, the Italio-Grecian alliance was amongst the first to leap into the great dark beyond. The two of them had formed a lucrative economic alliance shortly after Turkey was forced to give up Istanbul by the Treaty of Byzantium.
Shortly after, a radical revolutionary, who's name has been lost to the sands of time, led a coup de'tat with mercenary forces he had hired from out of Russia and the Middle East. Using old equipment, poorly fashioned jammers, and the element of suprise, the revolutionaries won a stunning victory, seizing control of both Rome and Constantionople within a day of each other.
As new head of the twin governments, the revolutionary disbanded both nations' representative bodies and declared himself Emperor. Shortly before this he disarmed the military and used the arms to equip a highly loyal force of mercanaries and natives. Greece and Italy were shortly thereafter exiled from the EU.
Under his rule, he gradually introduced more and more reforms until he finally ushered in a new age; he declared the Roman Empire reborn and immediatly organized a Senate, which was nothing more than a tool to give himself legimaticy.
A series of wars resulted in the solidifaction of the New Roman Empire admist the powers of the world, but it left it too weak to pursue expansionist policies. It is highly fortunate that, just as the seemingly short-lived Empire was running out of steam, that space travel opened up the cosmos.
The Emperor of the launched an expedition to a far-flung system and was richly rewarded. Upon arriving in primitive spacecraft, the Roman soldiers seized all the inhabitable moons and the one M-class planet in the system, crushing a Bronze-age race on one of the moons and employing the survivors as slaves to build up it's new base of power. More and more colonists, arms, and equipment arrived from Earth, and the New Roman Empire exploded into a frenzy of activity.
Now, so many years after it's foundation, with the Octavia system fully under it's control, a Martian colony, and a well-armed fleet at it's command, the New Roman Empire stands ready to carry the glory of Rome into a new age of prosperity and glory.
Territories
Earth
Italia:
Pop: ~150 million.
Capital: Rome
Italia is the home of the New Roman Empire, and is thusly heavily defended and extremely well-developed. The cities of Italia, like those of Graecia, are sunk deep into the earth, housing large populations and refining huge amounts of metals and electronics for use in the Empire.
Graecia:
Pop ~200 million
Capital: Constantinople
Graecia's coast is swarmed with fishing fleets that patrol the Aegean Sea. It's borders have expanded to include Crete, Macedonia, and parts of the Ionian coast.
Stellar Colonies
Caesar Station:
Pop: ~500K
Caesar Station is located on Mars and is more of an automated factory and stripmine than a colony. To defend it from neighboring colonies nearly the entire population is made up of military personnel and there are a large number of warships in low orbit, along with defense satillities and several spaceborne missile launchers.
Right, I'll edit this to reflect more stuff as I find time.

Which means that the following ships have re-appeared from the void (with much degraded weapon systems):
Wok Around the Clock
Balti Towers
Bagel-dee
Donut-dum
Flamebait Steakhouse
and the
Roadkill Diner.
Of course, the remnants of the Bab5 tech level Jihad fleet (probably 200 capital ships) is always lurking nearby incase some fool don't pay.

My group: The Lost.
Instellar refuge convoy.
History: Started at an unknown point in time and space, the Lost has become a refuge for all those who have no other home. Not a true star nation, but a massive convoy, consisting of a handful of collosal, refitted generation-ships, as well as many smaller vessels. At present they have arrived in the quadrant via Wormhole to begin taking on resources and supplies, and to test the waters for more permenant residence.
'Territory': While holding no planets as yet, the Lost do command a half-dozen generation-ships, each large enough to hold hundreds of thousands comfortably, as well as serve as shipyards and production centers. The largest is the Spirit Of Justice, which spans a mind-blowing three hundred kilometers in length. While these ships are huge, they are no better protected than most planets.
Politics: The convoy is led by the captains of the various ships, who are ruled by the captains of the generation vessels, who, ultimately, answer to one man. Nitram Tahalshia.
OOC: Of course, I'm asking for something big with these collosal generation ships to hold my population. Beyond these massive vessels, which will mostly hide, most of my ships will be heavily built towards speed and stealth.

Floater Republics
The Floaters are a human subspecies, adapted for life in low-gravity environments. Floaters look fairly human, but can be easily recognized by their matte black skin, pale hair, and abnormally slim and elongated build. Floaters have great resistance to radiation and suffer none of the ill effects that gravityless environments convey on regular humans. Needless to say, Floaters have trouble moving around on worlds with more than .2 g's. Floaters prefer zero-gravity environments.
Masters of biological science, Floaters have gene-augmented themselves into the condition they enjoy today. Some floaters are gene-auged to be closer to the human standard. These floaters act as emmisaries and soldiers on planets or orbitals controlled by human powers.
Floaters hold disdane for regular humans, who they call "Heavies." They see Heavy space stations and orbitals as ridiculous, and funny- like a fish out of water. Some Floater factions even see Heavy incursions into space as blasphemous.
The Floaters are religeously diverse, but over 60% of all floaters adhere to a worship of what they call "The Mother Void." This faith sees reality as consisting of almost nothing. Floater theologists cite the fact that even solid matter is largely empty space. It is the belief of the Void worshippers that it is the duty of the Floater people to give life to the Vopid which gave them life and freedom. To this cause, the Floaters build massive, ephemeral vessels, called Dreamships, which are filled with volunteer Floater colonists in suspension, and then launched towards distant stars at sublight speeds. To this date, of the 4 Dreamships launched towards nearby stars, only one has established a colony and made contact with mainstream Floater society. Over 30 Dreamships have been launched, most towards the Galactic core or the Magellenic Cloud.
Floater Society is an alliance between the four main Floater Clusters and their colonies. This alliance, called the Great Cluster, is a representative democracy. Each Floater city elects on delegate to the coucil which provides cohesion among the Floaters in times of crisis. The Great Cluster rarely does anything- what power it has is limited to providing mutual defence for all Floater clusters. Each cluster has a different form of government.
the four man clusters are:
Zarathrustra: Earth's L5 point, this large cluster of asteroids and comets is home to nearly 2,000,000,000 Floaters. Smaller floater communities pepper the Asteroid Belt. There is a large colony of 16,000,000 floaters in the Sol system's Oort cloud of comets which owes allegiance to Zarathrustra. Zarathrustran floaters are the most liberal of the floater factions, and are very willing to spend time with heavys. Many Zarathrustrans visit Terran orbitals for business, or pleasure. Zarathrustra is a representative democracy, based on the system used by the Americans who first became floaters and colonized Earth's L5 point. Zarathrustra has a number of spinstations where they maintain tourist accomodations for visiting heavies.
Xanadu: This community, located at the L5 point of a planet in the Taiga System (Pan-Slavic Republic), is second in size only to Zarathrustra. 1,500,000,000 floaters make their home on this cluster of asteroids. The center of the Xanadu cluster is a large artificial station, where 3,000,000 Xanadar reside. Small colonies of Floaters inhabit the Taiga system's Oort comet cloud. Xanadu has a lawful anarchy, with locally appointed magistrates who ensure that the few laws of Xanadu are enforced.
Kharam: This single, large cluster in the Alpha Centauri (North American Union) system is a major manufacturer of the large sublight Dreamships the Floaters occaisionally dispatch to distant stars. To facilitate this, the 750,000,000 Floaters on Kharam have created a vast zero-g construction yard, called the Womb. Asteroids and comets are towed from the rings of the system's gas giant and the local Oort cloud, and processed into building materials for the huge Dreamships. Kharam is the center of the Floater faith. Kharamites are known for distrusting heavies. Many belong to the splinter group which detests all Heavy incursions into space. Like all floaters, Kharamites are anarchic and independent, but most Floaters in Kharam spend at least a few years of their lives working on the Dreamships, under the control of the strict hierarchy of the Mother Void Church, which also acts as the local Floater military.
Mohaim: Mohaim is the smallest of the Floater clusters. It is the first colony established by Dreamship, and is now part of the Great Cluster. The system in which the Mohiam cluster resides, which is 40 Lightyears from Sol, is unnamed. The Mohiam cluster is at the L5 point of one of this system's gas giants. 12,000,000 floaters live on the asteroids and comets of Mohiam, with another 2,000,000 living on scattered colonies among the system's asteroid belt, and 3,000,000 living on a colony in the system's Oort comet cloud. Mohiam's lawful anarchy is much like the government of Xanadu, except for the existance of a single leader, elected anually by popular vote, who appoints magistrates and military leaders in times of crisis.
Every human system has at least a few hundred floaters, living in small groups among the asteroids and comets, but only the four systems mentioned so far have any organization, or industry beyond that which is needed for basic living.
The Floaters own many hundreds of thousands of starships, most of which are hollowed out asteroids, built to accomodate a single family unit of Floaters. Mohiam, Xanadu, Kharam, and Zarathrustra all field small fleets of dedicated, purpose built warships. In addition, many Floaters arm their vessels. Even a seemingly undefended Floater city can yeild thousands of armed lancers and fighters in times of need.

The People's Interplanetary Republic
Earth territories: China (750 million)
Stellar territories:
1 highly industrialized capital planet (Mao-tse-tong) (31 billion)
2 major industrial planets (Marx (22 billion) and Ho-Chi-Minh(19 billion)
5 smaller planets with limited industry (59 billion althogether)
9 small colonial outposts (8 million all)
History: The People's Interplanetary Republic is basically an extension of the PRC.
Military: traditional Army and Navy, Army relies on strength of numbers, Navy on heavy firepower and armor (ie ships are powerful but slow).
(When I return next week I'll flesh it out a bit more. Until then I remain neutral.)

The Minmatar
Origins: Earth, pacific Rim.
Kaz'morden, eastern block about 45ly from sol.
Many citizens in the nations involved in the Oceania Union did not actually wish to be part of the said union at the time for political reasons. It is for this reason that they formed their own splinter faction and left Earth. After spending some time floating aimlessly through the cosmos they happened upon some alien colonists from a planet that had a similar political climate to Earth. Amazingly, instead of instantly going to war both species actually got along and worked together to create their own society about 30ly away from Earth. The collective name for this new society: Minmatar
The minmatar stem from many tribal a society. While the tribal systems of old are gone, their remnants can still be seen in the modern culture. One thing about the Minmatar is that they excel on diversity. The human componant of Minmatar civilization stems from Europeans, Polynesians and Asians. The alien componant even spans different races that have lived together on their homeworld Kaz'morden since the time of their last great war.
On the alien homeworld the Minmatar progenitors control the second largest continant, providing an excellent industrial base. On Earth, the Minmatar tend to be more nomadic then anything else. Support for the Minmatar comes more from multinational corporations then it does individual nations. There are however a large number of underwater colonies in the lower pacific that are under Minmatar control. There is also pressure in some parts of New Zealand (specifically Napier, Auckland, Hamilton and Christchurch) for New Zealand to seceed from the OU and join the Minmatar.
None of the aliens have been brought back to Earth so far but a few humans from the Minmatar have travelled to Kizavaris to take part in various technology and industrial endevors.
Colonies:
Gemini
Arsius
Bex
Abydos
Minara - Capitol
Homeworlds:
Earth: Deepsea south pacific colonies - source of people, food, and money
Kaz'morden: Good industrial and technology base.

Fenari Clans
Homeworld: Fenris
Description: Genetically engineered humaniod "Wolves" the original European Steppes Wolf stock was imported from earth by alien gentic Engineers to be used as "Shock Troops" against their enemies. Subsequently abandoned and allowed to further enhance their desireability through a rather nasty social Darwinian "Culling Process" (Thousands of years of warfare)
Description: three meter tall "werewolves", wearing armour composed of interlocking links of high tensile metal. often carrying gyrojet "Assult Rifles" and boarding "Shotguns" The rifles use spin stabalization to maintain accuracy, and the charge at the end turns the miniture missiles into molten metal (So they burn through things). The Shotguns are much larger bore then the earth models, and use ceramic fleccets encased in chemical propellent. (Good for ship board use as it WON't penetrate the hull of the ship)
Ships: Very spartan looking, (Boxy design, all buisness) All ships are designed to carry some cargo. Weapons: Missiles, w. bomb pumped lasers., Lasers & Rail/Gauss weapons. <Primitive but very effective> Fenari shields basically amount to gravity/magnetic fields (deflecting incomming physical objects, to heavy EW/stealthing)
Homeworld: Described as a land of "Fire & Ice" incredable amounts of vulcanism going on all the time, this large cold tundra filled world has plentiful herbevores, particularly rodents and "Elk". The large quanity of Volcanic activity has resulted in a large quanity of naturally occuring fissionable materials, including an inland sea with toxic levels of Deuterium.
Secondary worlds: Many Mining Colonys (The clans don't exactly keep accurate records they just mine, harvest, and move on)
The Fenari clans are never a fully organized force. Each "Clan" has it's own fleet, and they fight with each other constantly. The vast majority of clans spend 3/4 of their time trading, and 1/4 of their time fighting (either with each other, or raiding any force that they feel is too weak)
Fenari Teleport Booths: Allow for rapid deployment to a planet. (Tech simular to transporters/Teleport rings), the gateways open temporary wormholes to nearby locations, allowinging one way transit to said location. The power requirements prohibit it being done during active combat. The ride through the wormhole is a microsecond, however it is extremly exciting, and causes the user to emerge on the other side in a "Hyper Alert State", like an amphetamine. Some beings who have performed too many teleports become "Addicted" to this rush and are refered to as "Berzerkers".
--Edit--
Secondary Worlds:
Hectae: Agrocultural world full of lots of small game that's very good to eat.
Daemonheim: Formerly held by the Kzin, theis world was captured by the Fenari years ago, and maintains a major fleet repair mine field near a worm hole leading to the Patriarchy.

The four most powerful Clusters all maintain fleets of purpose built warships.
All floater warships are designed differently, depending on the cluster where they were manufactured, but they are all built along similar lines. All floater arships use matter/antimatter reactors to provide power. FTL capable warships mount warshawski sails, but only use them in hyperspace. General propulsion is provided by a M/AM reaction torchdrive. Floater vessels are low-G environments, with no artificial gravity. Inirtial compensation fields maintain a low-G environment. Floaters use X-ray lasers, particle beams, magnetic mass drivers, and nuclear- or M/AM tipped missiles. At short range, heavier Floater warships mount Antimatter projection cannon, whihc use modified M/AM torches to attack nearby enemy vessels. Standard engagement range of Floater weapons is 1/4 AU, with M/Am cannon being used at distances of 200,000 KM or less. Floater vessels have no shielding, but are designed with a great deal of redundancy. Many systems are decentralized, and everything is built in a modular fashion. Floaters rely largely on their excellent ECM and their sturdy, easily repairable engineering.
Floater warships come in five general types:
Strike Cruisers: The strike cruiser is the mainstay of any Cluster's fleet. Weighing in at between 300 and 500 kilotons, Strike Cruisers are fast attack vessels which are used either in small hunter/killer groups, or as escorts for larger Floater warships. There are around 200 Floater Strike Cruisers in existence.
Monitors: Large, heavily armored vessels, Monitors are used exclusively by the Kharamite floaters to defend the Womb. Weighing in at 1500 Kilotons, Monitors mount four times the armament of a Strike Cruiser, but lack FTL drives. There are 17 Monitors total.
Lancers: "Lancer" is the generic term for the small, armed civilian and military craft that occupy every Floater habitation. Military Lancers are usually purpose built craft, but most Lancers are armed civilian militia craft (Think Millennium Falcon in terms of size and armament.) Lancers will mount anything from X-ray lasers and nuclear missiles to single-shot M/AM cannon. Some lancers even carry small boarding parties and breaching equipment. There are tens of thousands of Floater lancers.
Attack Carriers The pride of any floater Fleet, attack carriers are the center of mobile Floater strike units. Weighing in at 1200 Kiltons, and carrying twice the armament of a Strike Cruiser, Attack Carriers can face the enemy in a stand up fight, or act as dedicated fleet carriers. Attack Carriers can carry thousands of fighters and lancers into combat on their launch arms. There are 25 Attack Carriers in existence.
Fleet Tenders Fleet Tenders are light vessels, weighing in at a mere 100-300 kilotons, and consist largely of fuel tanks, repair bays, and large prefabricated spacedocks. Fleet Tenders resupply, repair, and support Floater military operations away from the Clusters. Over a hundred unarmed Fleet Tenders support the Floater navy.
Finally, all Floater clusters maintain Military Clusters- Free-floating collections of asteroids and comets, which act as military bases. When force projection is needed, a military cluster can be outfitted with engines, and sent to act as a repair/resupply/construction base for a Floater fleet in the field. All major Floater clusters are surrounded by a few Military clusters, which act as defense platforms in the case of attack. It should be noted that without Military clusters, a regular cluster is defended only by militia fighters and lancers, and makes an easy target for long range bombardment. Floater clusters are as fragile as they are beautiful.

Monacoran Empire: Explained
History:
The Monacoran empire was a joining of the Andoran and Monacoran nations into a snigle nation, after they had each started to expand into Europe. The Empire itself conquered most of the world, excluding southern Africa, Bhutan, Southern Tip of the Indian Peninsula, and Switzerland.m After two and a half centuries of having such a large nation, unrest grew, there was disagreement on the Royal (though subservient to the Parliment it is still very important, especially the MIlitary Branch) level, which finally brewed to all out civil war. Finally provincal regiments began declaring independence from the nation, the newly appointed political prince seeing a hopeless situation, and with the support of the military prince, declared that all provinces of the empire which had a majority of citizens show the will to leave the empire in a vote, could leave. All Provinces over the next ten years eventually left the empire, except for those around Andora, the new home of the UN, and the location of the parliment, Monaco, the Royal Home and base of the military, and the islands of Japan, who stayed for political reasons way to deep to get into here.
It was one of the last nations to get into space, and when it did it only did so half-heartedly. After many militiristic defeats in naval combat colonization was tried for one last time, this time rather then go to a populated planet/system the Monacoran Command picked a system, nicknamed Far Point, far (120-240 LYS) away, that a small probe had found to have a aparently habitable planet. The fleet when it arrived, however, found a already populated planet by two Indiginous species, living in 1920s earth tech level. The countries on this planet convened, and shocked by this arrival of Aliens to the planet, and impressed by the history of this nation agreed to join the Empire. Only one nation, which was moderatly advanced, on the planet did not join, and in fact attacked a nation that had joined. The Monacoran Army unit that was attached to the colonial fleet almost immeadietly tore through the rogue nation, and conquered it completly in less then two weeks.
Currently the nation is just finishing updating the Kelmen, and the Yvarma (the races living on Far Point) to modern Technology levels. This system's location is very closley guarded, to prevent any attacks by enemy nations on the planet or any of the two other planets within the system. The only other planet held outside the Far Point system is a Gas Giant, Mardup, in a well known system, the moons of which are very mineral rich and somewhat valuble. Also of note is that there arre 10 orbital colonies orbiting Mardup.
Culture/Government:
The culture of the Humans on Earth greatly revere the Army, and recognize that without the Army the Nation would probably be a rather nondescript. Other then that there are many different sub cultures of the Monacoran Civilazation, it is notably libertarian though, and lets companies grow rather large with only sufficent checks to make sure that they aren't pulling anything seriously Illegal.
All citizens of the Empire, wether they be Human, Yvarma, or Kelman strongly respect the parliment that runs the nation. With three seperate levels to ensure total fairness, everyone is represented well, and very few injustices take place.
The government is structured around three systems, Parliment with the houses representing Provinces, Population, and species (though this house rarely does anything.) The court system which deals with crimes, and civil suits. And the Princes, whith one representing the politcal interests of the nation's interior. The other one, however, represents the military, and is its supreme commander, this helps to channel the energy of the most funded part of the nation, and one of the highest precentage wise in all nations. He also acts as a check to the government, making sure that it never oversteps its grown, as the MIlitary prince stays, by historical tradition all throughout the history of the empire, way out of political debates.
Military:
The Army of the Monacoran Empire is one of the best anywhere in quality, with the air wing that belongs to it. These men and women can take on three to one odds and still kick but. However it wasn't as large as it is now with the recent influx of Yvarma and Kelmen recruits bolstering their numbers. This influx, however, has not effected its military's standard of quality.
For every good side though, there is a bad side. This comes out in the Monacoran Astral Navy, never top of the line, it has falen beyond all repair in the past. With it blowing five to one odds on occasion. Recently, the navy has switched tactics, rather then having a large mobile force it has a small mobile force designed around not getting captured, and only offering protection from pirates. In the navy's place it uses large defense platforms which look like orbiting colonies, and are armed to the teeth with deadly weapons. Put over planets in the Far Point system, and orbiting marduk with the Colonies, to protect these planets from what the Navy command has seen as the inevitable attack, and most likley an inevitable defeat.
Technology:
To come when a wider agreement has come through on the STGOD players.
The only thing of note, is that the Navy has no artifical gravity technology, outside of centrifugal force. And that isn't even used much to help dissuade boarders, and to give an edge to the Monacoran marines which are on par with the Army in quality.
Population:
Earth:
European Teritories ~180-210 million (20 million of which are either Yvarma or Kelmen)
Nippon Province: ~100 Million (10 million of these are eitehr Yvarma or Kelmen.)
Mardup Space Colonies: ~20 Million
Far Point System:
(Compilation of the many provinces here)
~2.2 billion
1 Billion Kelmen
1.2 Billion Yvarma
and 2 million Humans
Far Point Space Colonies:
~10 million people of many Different Species.

I feel compelled to point out that i have most of south-east China... And part of my current back story includes a nuclear civil war...

Mind if I join you folks?
The Confederacy of The C'tan (Wholely based on my Nationstates nation, with a few changes)
The Confederacy of The C'tan was founded by a group of scientists who stole a colony ship several centuries ago (2150) and left to colonise a new world. Their arrival on the planet Norcendrol was caused by what is thought to have been a freak wormhole, their original intent having been to head for a planet 12 lightyears away.
The Confederacy have long been a mystery, though they are known to posess at least two heavily colonised worlds, (colonised by GM clones from a database that was stolen before the confederacy's founding) and their space fleet seems to be small, consisting of six fleets each based around a four kilometer Command Ship.
Confederate Star Fleet(understanding 400):
Command Ships (6):
Peter the Great
Cardinal Richelieu
Napoleon Bonaparte
Minister Gladstone
Gerorge Washington
Robert the Bruce
Battleships (30)
Kildare Class
Cheshire Class
Cruisers (200)
Ohio Class
Ural Class
Drone Carriers (70)
Spain Class
Misc Warships (explorers, Fast Pickets, etc etc.) (90)

Raian Republic (yeah, I'm unoriginal. Sue me)
Planets:
Mysidia (Capital)
Thamasa (largest Raian settlement)
Esthar (tecnology world)
Madain Sari (colony)
Oeilvert (prison planet)
More to come.
And here's more.
Phong permitting, the Raians will have access to magic. However, it will be nothing uber powerful. No individual Raian will be able to cast a spell with an effect like a photon torpedo, but they will be able to make a 70 MT torpedo with the appropriate vessel for their enchantments.
Raians look like the Genomes from FF9. They use Froyts (looking like the Sufals from xenogears) to do the menial work, in peace as well as war. All the Raians in the military have officer's responsibilities, with Froyts acting as enlisted men. A Froyt is 3 meters tall, and can punch through a foot of steel with no injuries. However, they are as smart as Darkstar without a Raian giving them orders. If their commanding Raian is killed, don't expect anything better than normal DS9 ground tactics. For weapons Froyts typically use 20mm handheld rifles. They carry 5 clips with 100rds per clip. They are too stupid to operate military vehicles or artillery, so the Raians do that themselves.
The Raian Fleet has 300 ships:
Altima class Battleship
Dimensions: 800m long, 40m wide, 18m high
Armament: 12 thaum cannons, 24 pulse thaumblasters, 400 thaumic torpedos
Crew: 2,000
# in service: 12
The Thaum cannons are 2 times as powerful as a Sovereign' main phaser (IIRC, 2.4 GW per shot. correct me if I'm wrong.) The pulse thaum cannons are as powerful as the Defiant's pulse phasers. Thaumic torpedos are 70MT each.
Vormav class Cruiser
Dimensions: 600m long, 30m wide, 16m high
Armament: 6 thaum cannons, 12 pulse thaumblasters, 250 thuamic torpedos
Crew: 1,500
# in service: 60
Cloak capable
Weigraf class Destroyer
Dimensions: 400m long, 30m wide, 16m high
Armament: 2 thaum cannons, 6 pulse thaumblasters, 150 thaumtorps
Crew: 1,000
# in service: 128
Rofel class Frigate
Dimensions: 200m long, 25m wide, 15m high
Armament: 1 thaum cannon, 4 pulse thaumblasters, 50 thaumic torpedos
Crew: 500
# in service: 200
RO-5 fighter (Come on, don't tell me a fighter is a major combatant!)
Dimensions: 30m long, 22m wingspan, 5m high
Armament: 2 pulse thaumblasters, 12 micro thaumic-torpedos (35MT yield)
Crew: 1
# in service: 3,000
I'll post stats on the army later.
