Okay, in Homeworld, there are two styles of fleets for your choosing, wich style do you prefer and why?

I almost always pick the Hiigaran Exiles Fleet, I just prefer it to the Taidanii Fleet.

I usually build a core unit of(4) Destroyers and (2)Heavy Cruisers, supported by two flotillas of (8)Ion Frigates with a screen of multigun( Two squadrons of 15) corvetts backed up with Torpedo bombers(Two Squadrons of 20) as my coup de gras :D

Never played it, but from the screenshots i've seen I prefer the goog guys' ship designs, just out of aesthetic appeal.

I actually prefer the Taiidan fleets because while I really do love the design on Kushan heavy capital ships....I cannot stand their crappy wee box shaped fighters....I figure I can steal what I want from the Kushan fleet anyway

Heavy crusers galore!

I liked the Kadeshi ships better than either of the other two sides...

But if I had to choose I would take the Hiigarans. The Taiidani are just too garish. Not just garish. I mean garish.

The Kadesh just pissed me off...I don't give a shit -WHAT- that thing is...when it drives through my entire fleet, it's gonna get blown apart by what bits of a fleet I had...

Oh on the first Garden mission, is the actual inhibitor indestructible?

Yes it is, I've replayed that one several times , and you'll never do enough damage to the inhibitor to kill it prior to the end of the mission.

The Kadeshi ships were very cool, maybe we'll get to see more of them in Homeworld 2 :D

Which is why I captured all the Multibeam frigates I could get my grubby paws on (Yes, I captured ALL the ion cannon frigates in Bridge of Sighs too).

The needle mothership? Yeah, it was a bitch.

Like Sokar said... it is. But you can drive it off (I think, haven't played in a long time).

Man, way to push my buttons...

First off, it's Kushan and Taiidan. Cataclysm never happened. If anything, the most logical choice for the exiles was the Taiidani. I liked the Kushan ships more myself, but that doesn't mean that they were the exiles. Looking at the evidence from Homeworld (and ONLY from Homeworld), signs tend to point towards the Taiidan.

Thanks guys :D

I know which direction the fleet's getting driven then.

One thing I did notice about the kadeshi fighters is blow their fuel pods and very quickly they become burnt out husks.....shame that...

I like the Kushan fleet, I fell in love for their design ever since the demo came out. The Taiidani design is nice, and sometimes I play with them, now if we could do something about that ugly Mothership...

Anyway, it is so beautifull to watch those ion beams fire...

Both motherships are damned ugly when you think about it...what happened to the style of a Mon cal?....or the butt ugly-but brutal design of an ssd?

:)

They need a redesign really

I've blown it up.

It causes the game to get confused, as there's nothing to launch more assaults from, so it just sits for a while, letting your ships harvest or whatever, until the announcement of the field being down.

Relic (the guys who made Homeworld) have even said that the Taiidan were the original exiles. Of course, now that Cataclysm happened, we're stuck having the Kushan's as the exiles.

Oh, and I perfer the Taiidan.

...? What's wrong with the Kushan being the exiles?

Mainly the ship design and composition of their fleet.

The Kushan fleet is more offnsive minded: The Drone Frigate and the Cloaked Fighter.

The Taiidan fleet is more defnsive minded: The Defence Fighter and the Defence Field Frigate.

If you had a tyranical galatic empire, which would your fleet most lean to?

Not again. Not the bloody True Exile Flamewar. Not here.

The Kushan were infact the ones ground into dust and sent out as exiles....among other things, the official site actually lists this in the plot...it doesn't matter depending on ship class....that's the facts as they stand
Shortly after their relocation to the harsh desert world of Kharak, the Exiles forgot both their origins and technology. It took them 3,000 years to struggle back to the stars. Having rediscovered hyperspace and the location of their original planet, all the families of Kharak, or kiith, united to build a mothership that could take them home. Just as they prepared to embark, however, the brutal Taiidan Empire took notice and attacked. Enforcing an ancient decree forbidding the Exiles from developing hyperspace technology, the emperor had his forces immolate the planet. Only those already in space survived.

This cruel slaughter appalled dissidents throughout the empire, and the mothership's heartening retaliation and escape catalyzed a long-overdue rebellion. Amid wholesale civil war, and with the help of the highly advanced trader race known as the Bentusi, the Exiles regained their homeworld, and the emperor and his pirate mercenaries were defeated.
Taken from Homeworld official page

It bluntly shows the Taiidan as the aggressors here...end of argument as to who is the true exiles here. Who we choose however, is just a matter down to style

On the other hand:

If you were the military of a massive empire tends to be more defensive in nature, while a smaller force, particularly one that's pissed-off at the destruction of their Homeworld, would be more offensive.

Offense != Evil.

Okay, so which is which? Is the Taidan the ones with the fighters that look like helicopters, or the fighters that look like orbs?

Are the Taidan the ones with the round vertical arch-like mothership or the yellow horizontal mothership?

Because I'm getting confused.

Taiidan are the ones with the fighters that don't look like flying bars of soap...like that picture pounder showed us up there...that was the Taiidan...

The kushan on the other hand, had superbly designed Capital ships...they reminded me alot of the bab 5 design types...that heavy cruiser looked very similar....

I'll dig around for pics
