Gah. Day of Defeat, America's Army, and all those games, yet deep-down I still remain loyal to Firearms. I've been waiting and waiting for 2.7, waiting to see the cool new stuff they put in and fixed, to make it compete with the other games out there. Wow, I couldn't have been let down more. They didn't fix jack shit. The only improvement I've noticed is the M249, which is admittedly fairly fun. Everything, if anything, sucks more shit. Automatic SMGs still rule the day, be it at long range or short. All you have to do is bunny hop around with the MP5 or Bizon and you automatically win. Fuck that game. -1 Firearms supporter for them.

More weapons, better combat modeling, different gameplay. Probably the best part is the interaction between weapons. Due to the well-tuned (arguably so, cough cough) balance, it's necessary to understand the strengths and weaknesses of weapons and use them in cooperation.

For example, the AK-47 or SMGs can rip anyone a new one at short and medium range, but it's a bit pants at long range. So, I stick with a teammate who's using a long-range weapon, and we back eachother up. It's more fun than the CS system of "every weapon is good enough for you to go commando and win," in my opinion.

Just play DoD and rock the beaches with the KAR 98.

You can't get a stupider firearm than the Type II phaser.

Well, after playing it a little more I must concede that it can still be fun. I've spent most of the time with the M249 w/ bipod, and it can hold its own at medium range+. A shame the game doesn't have any modern grenades though.

No it is a real shame you can't pick up more handgrenedes at the ammo boxes.
