Downloaded Soldat a few days ago, been playing it alot, gotten to like the desert eagles and grenade launcher alot. Had a few questions.

When was the last update, and what is the likelyhood that it will be updated again?

Whats your favorite weapons?

Don't know when the last update was as I started with this version, don't know when it will next be updated.

My favorite weapon is the AK-74, though occasionally I go with the Barrett or SPAS-12. Minigun when I'm feeling cruel. Of course, I only play on my server, which always runs on realistic mode.

Soldat is up to version 1.13. If you have a 1.05 version, great, but the 'infiltration' and 'realism' modes, better graphics, MUCH better networking support, and better AI doesn't come until 1.1X.

However, if you have 1.10, you MUST patch to 1.13 or you'll find that it won't work well on your system, especially with bots.

Just go here. and grab it or, if you swing that way, the Linux version.

I've gotten to the point where I can use the Ruger pretty well. *pow*, "Your head's gone". *pow*, "Your head's gone".

So is this Soldat any good? I've heard some people on the board raving about it.

It is really, really fun. It has the advantages of being 1) easy to play, 2) fun, 3) free, and 4) internet-capable for free online play.

Essentially, it's like Worms in real-time. Think of a First-Person Shooter, turn it 2-D, give everyone weapons and the ability to gib people into small parts, slap in Capture The Flag, Deathmatch, Infiltration, and Team Games, pepper with good customizable bots and power-ups, and give everyone very flexible run, crawl, jump, jetpack, and crouch mobility.

That's Soldat.

It's not going to win any awards for graphics, but the sound is top-notch and has MP3 play options, the game at its current incarnation is bug-free, the gore and weapons graphics are very detailed, and any monkey can use the map editor to create whatever they want.

Damnit I'm getting really tired of seeing my grenades doing JACK SHIT in direct hits, people constantly fading in and out of exsistance, and getting killed in one shot to the chest by something firing as fast as the desert eagles.

Make sure you're at 1.13 version, and check your settings. Grenades in direct hits should always kill unless the target is armored. As for the weapons...well....even though the sprites are TINY...there is locational damage. Try shooting a head or chest, but watch what happens if an arm or a leg or a gun gets in the way...

I am, I hit people midair, it exsplodes right on them and they don't die, or I drop one, it's less than a millimeter away from them and they barely bounce away.

My newest version of Soldat demands that I pay them to unlock maps etc.

Fuck that. I have refused to play it ever since.

It wants me to register and pay them, other-wise its: no game modes for you!

No mp3 support for you!

No options for you!

Goddamn soldat-nazis.

All I don't get for registering are custom MP3s and custom menu themes. I don't think that's much of a sacrifice for playing it free... :?

Umm...you get all the maps and game modes without registering. All you miss out on are the custom mp3 options and the background themes. Seriously not worth complaining about. Besides which, it's only 9 bucks.

I'm just wondering: Will installing Directx 9 fix the 'Error Loading d3d8.dll' nonsense?
