I was wondering if now the real old games, say 10 5 or 7 years ago you can download free of charge, like the old sierra "quest" games, like the space quests, police quests, maybe even the leisuresuit larry's. I downloaded simant a little while back, was trying to find simlife, etc.

Well, Wolf 3D and Duke 3D are usually easy to find. I don't know of any specific place you can get them, though. (I got both off PCG CDs)

I've been to the underdogs, as I'm a huge fan of freeware and independant developer titles (such as SOLDAT, Crimsonland, and Hell Fighter). They actually DO have a very good set of older games, classics, and freeware remakes.

As far as I can tell, the underdogs don't carry pirated software, and the pieces that you can actually still buy have links to the appropriate sites. Nonetheless, I'm not up to date with how the law works in terms of 'outdated' software. A lot of what they have requires C64, Amiga, and NES emulators to run, which in at least the case of the NES is against the law to own, as far as Nintendo is concerned.

Abandonware is still technically illegal to download even if the game publisher has indeed abandoned it. Please to not post links to such websites.

Wolfenstein 3D and Duke Nukem 3D are easy to find partly because their first episodes were shareware!

That said, The Underdogs is pretty good about keeping themselves legal.

Ahhh....I remember the abandoned game Thrill Kill for PSone. It wasn't all that bad. Cool music too.

Thanks for that link to Underdogs....I'd never seen that site before now.......dude, they have Snatcher! 8)
