Need help on CnC Generals (help against rushes)

I'm in a skirmish game, with the map called "Fortress Avalanche". I'm playing USA and I'm going up against two Brutal level AIs, one China and the other USA.

I keep getting hit by their tank rushes, one after another repeatedly. Can anyone help me in this situation?

Um, Humvees with Missile Defenders work wonders if you can micromanage them.

Have you by any chance beaten USA and China Brutal AIs together before?

Well part of the problem is one of those is China :P But seriously, build your power plant, barracks, and supply depot, then take two dozers and just mass Patriots at key choke points. With dozers on hand to repair them quickly, you should be able to amass money in relative safety so you can get Supply Drop Zones. Then as the money reels in, coordinate your counter-attacks. You may also want to get some F-22s on ground and air guard as well.

Make sure the Patriot batteries are in clusters, since they can datalink with each other.

I once forified a bridge with six Patriots (one cluster on the right, one on the left), which made it very difficult to attack.

Don't you just wish you had a couple dozen Zerglings right about now? That'd show those bastards. [/useless post]

I did as you suggested and the strategy worked a little fine. And then both AIs rushed me from two sides at once.

Then on another board, someone else recommended that I use the laser-targetting function of the missile defenders. I did that and it worked wonders.....until the Chinese came in with those napalm MIGs.

I'll try the clustered Patriots suggestion next.

OK I just did some testing. Tomahawks are now god. Park a few behind your Patriot clusters and set 'em to guard. The missiles track vehicles and they can hit pesky enemy artillery. 2 Tomahawks will knock out almost any vehicle.

You've got to be able to micromanage in C&C:G. If they send in the MiG, scatter your Hummers to minimize their damage.

Is this game worth buying? I love RTS games, but is it worth the money?

Zerglings are no match for the Gattling Tank! ALL HAIL THE IMMORTAL GOD-MACHINE!

The question is: Do you like micromanagment?

No.

Sinlge player campaign is just a couple of missions randomly strung together (no story at all).

Multiplayer is quite stupid, because you can win by simply bunkering.

Are those bunkering as in bunkers or Overlord bunkers?

If it's normal bunkers, take them out with superweapons before making your attack.

If it's Overlord bunkers, just pound them with loads of Tomahawks+escorts.

By bunkering he means building massive defenses around your base and just sitting there building superweapons.

Or otherwise known as turtling.

Many RTS games have shown that turtling is generally a suicidal way of playing. I can imagine that load of superweapons at the opponent's base-front then going in with loads of units would really mess up a bunkered base.

Note that the copy of CnC Generals I have is a rip so I can't say much on the multiplayer aspect.

Do you have a seriously beefy computer?

When playing against the AI, I prefer to strike hard, strike fast before it can build up enough forces. Turtling works if you're good at it.

Kinda sad that I'm STILL at it. Maybe I'm just not doing it right or something.

I've done air only. Worked till they trashed me with MiGs.

I've also tried a Patriot+Tomahawk combo. That actually didn't last long, cause once the Patriots went down, the Tomahawks were easy prey.

One time though I've just settled down to mass-producing tanks. Next time I'll also try adding in a patriot or two to keep away the aircraft. I've had the most success with this but I still got beat later on in the game.

Oh well. Still trying.

Build at least 6 Patriots at each chokepoint before dealing with the tomahawks. Even then, I only used three toms at the main access to my base.

The map I'm trying to beat the AIs on has no choke points.

:?: :?: :?:

There have to be some good defensive positions. What map are you playing?

Fortress Avalanche. At the least, there are two "entrances", which are rather wide-open.

But I'm playing in the lower-right corner and the comps are on the upper-left corner.

I fucked up what position on the map you were on but the idea is the same:
