So so much good news that makes my owning of a Gamecube(and GBA emulator) slightly cheer me up in my currently depressed mood.

Metroid Prime 2!! Even though it probably won't be released for a while. But still.
And then F-Zero, and Custom Robo, and Rogue Squadron 3, and...ARGH! So many games, so little cash!

Then you'll probably need an x-box to play it, from what I've heard.Lord of the Farce wrote:I want a Perfect Dark sequel damnnit!
Otherwise, this is great news! But I wonder why Metroid Prime and SMS didn't perform that well, they're both well-designed games.

Well Micro$oft has brought the rights the Rare, true... Hopefully, like Starfox, Nintendo would still have the rights to it... But as much as I want to believe that, I'm pretty sure Perfect Dark is Rare's (and now, Micro$oft's) property...StarshipTitanic wrote:Then you'll probably need an x-box to play it, from what I've heard.Lord of the Farce wrote:I want a Perfect Dark sequel damnnit!

Didn't Ninty have a 51% stake in Rare though?Lord of the Farce wrote:Well Micro$oft has brought the rights the Rare, true... Hopefully, like Starfox, Nintendo would still have the rights to it... It is a shame M$ bought their games like that, bastards.
I can't wait for the MGS remake, Twin Snakes.

You're behind the times. Nintendo sold all of its shares back to Rare, who then sold it to Microsoft.Admiral Valdemar wrote:Didn't Ninty have a 51% stake in Rare though?

Metroid Zero Mission looks like it'll be a tad too easy compared to the original Metroid, with the map, wall jump and ledge grab and all.

oh if only Nintendo had thought about it. They should have released a Perfect Dark game as a launch Title while Rare was still indipendent.Lord of the Farce wrote:Well Micro$oft has brought the rights the Rare, true... Well apparently (though I'm not sure of the accuracy of what I've heard/read about this), most of the team behind Goldeneye and Perfect Dark had left Rare before the company went to Microsoft, so it wouldn't have been the same anyway...Hades wrote:oh if only Nintendo had thought about it. BTW, a little bit of research on the official Rareware website (Link) yielded this quote:
X02 Press Release wrote:Rare's first creation for Xbox, Kameo, is expected to reach store shelves next spring. Also under development is the highly anticipated sequel to Perfect Dark.

Maybe Nintendo itself won't make any more games for the GC, but they can still have second and third party developers working on them.neoolong wrote:Hmm. That's funny. I heard that after the next "season," they weren't going to make any more games for Gamecube and concentrate on their next system.

Bloody idiots. They bring out these consols way to fast. I havent even brought a Gamecube yet (or any of the big 3 new consols) and they are already condidering stopping developing games for it.neoolong wrote:Hmm. That's funny. BTW, I got Enter the Matrix for the GC yesterday (from Kmart, for $89 Australian), and finished it on Easy with Ghost today. Much fun to be had. Strangely enough, when I tried it out on the Xbox version at the EB store, it seemed to have a longer loading time than the GC version... *shrug*

1) Nintendomight not be making new games, but other companies definitely will. How many different ways do you want to play Mario?Hades wrote:Bloody idiots. They bring out these consols way to fast. 2) If Nintendo wants to survive, they need to release their next console sooner than they did last time.

The only reason they are relaseing a new consol is becuse they are being forced to compete wit theforth coming PS3.StarshipTitanic wrote:Hades wrote:2) If Nintendo wants to survive, they need to release their next console sooner than they did last time.neoolong wrote:Hmm. It would be much better if all companys decided to only release a consol every 6 or 7 years.

I know. Didn't the NES last a good portion of a decade?
The GCN is supposed to have near-cartridge speed loading times. Although that doesn't all work with ported games.Lord of the Farce wrote:BTW, I got Enter the Matrix for the GC yesterday (from Kmart, for $89 Australian), and finished it on Easy with Ghost today. Oh come on. Half the fun of Metroid was trying to figure out exactly where you were on the planet. Especially since them 8-bit rooms all looked the same...
