I enjoyed it, it gave me a piece of the story I never was informed about. Although I've gotten over the nearly pissing my pants litterally playing RE2 at 13, I was still creeped out and hesitated taking corners and walking past corpse. I just rented it so I used the grenade bug to try to get through it faster(and failed, oh well), and I was flaming every corpse I found, recently slain or there when I got their.
Still, it was no 2. Two by far is the greatest of the series, it's what made it a hit, and although I understand the finacial reasons of not remaking it(Nintendo players have played it, not as many have played RE1, it wouldn't sell as well, cost too much to remake more than one game with meger profits to a deficate) I would have rather seen it in all of it's cubey glory.

RE remake was the first time I got to play one of the RE games, due to not owning a Playstation until recently. I do believe that that I woke up screaming everynight for several days after playing it for the first time .
Funny story (depends on your type of humour) about one of my first experiences with the game, I was playing as Jill for the first time and had already gone through the part of the mansion by the Serum/Save Room and killed the two zombies that hang around there. Silly me I forgot that shooting them only makes them come back later meaner and real pissed off. I went to go down the stairs leading to the Serum/Save Room and one of the zombies, now turned into a crimson head, gets up and scares the piss outta me. Thinking I can beat it to the save room and heal (my health was on danger) the motherfucker gets up, runs after me, runs halfway down stairs, catches up with me and chops my head clean off in one swipe.

What about Silent Hill in my opinion it was better then RE...

RE has never been my bag. Survival horror is just a fancy way of saying "monsters will break in through windows."

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Not bad...but they kept the bloody control system which honestly always somewhat ticked me off about RE.

The controls aren't that bad but they definetly take some getting used to. Besides they were made that way on purpose to give the player a trapped and closed in feeling especially when fighting enemies and IMNSHO I think they pulled it off quite well.Ghost Rider wrote:Not bad...but they kept the bloody control system which honestly always somewhat ticked me off about RE.

RE 2 was the only one i actually finished, after that i was pretty much done with the series, just not my thing I guess. But if it's survival horror you want, you are much better off with the Marine Missions on Alien vs. Predator 2 (guaranteed to be unplayable in the dark, alone or not) and System Shock 2. I wouldn't place HL in survival horror, as much as i love it, it's lacking in the horror part, you should try AVP2, ando.

In the survival horro genre I would say that Silent Hill creeped me out the most with those little kid looking demon things running around in the dark. RE2(on the PS1) was the first game I played that made me jump and it always got me with those zombies jumping through windows and arms grabing through cracks bit.

Loved it. I only played through it 2x, I'm going through it again and stepping up the difficulty. It's the first RE I played, although it brings back memories of when I watched my friend play the original on his PS1.
That reminds me, does anyone know where I can find a copy of the original online? Is that legal to for Playstation games? (I guess it could be argued that they aren't old enough for emulation, but oh well).
Still...great game. I kinda stopped getting scared around the time of the Residence, but the first trip through the mansion....oh boy.
