Well, Stronghold Crusaders was fun, and seemed fairly realistic.

But be more specific. I mean, in terms of build times and stuff, "realistic" would make you wait around a long time. Or maybe in combat? Where it's not hit points but you hack off arms, legs, and so on?

Can you please be a tad more specific? Some realism has to be sacrificed for gameplay, or it's gonna be a very long and drawn out game...

OK, most realistic firepower and armor strength.

Well, Blitzkrieg and Sudden Strike 2 get reasonably close, and that's probably as good as its going to get.

You want RTS and that's it, right?

Hm, well... Jane's Fleet Command seemed ok to me. Since you could disable a ship from firing with a few well placed HARM shots. So I guess firepower and armor it was decent.

The rest, though... Damn them for not letting me reconfigure the weapons loadouts on my Hornets! And why have resupply ships if you can't resupply?! Granted it's not something you do in mid-battle, but why include them at all? Unless they play a purpose in a campaign, and ships that expended missles don't get 'em back in each new campaign mission. But if that's not the case, why have 'em at all? *sigh*

That and you can't really make the pilots dodge that well, just "scram west" and hope they feel like popping out chaff. And y'know, making your subs shoot out decoys would be handy, if you could command them to rather than hope the AI know's what it's doing (and since EVERY sub I EVER shot at died without avoiding a torpedo, even AMERICAN ones, I don't have much faith in the AI).

Sudden Strike 2, not only is it realistic but its miserably hard.

I hit an Chinese Osa clone five times with Harpoons in that game and it kept moving and shooting. A frigate or corvette could keep afloat after such damage, mabey. BUt this thing kept shooting down my missiles, I fired sixteen Harpoons at it and only five hit because the 30mm optical AAA kept shooting them down.

I finally had to steam two cruisers into 5 inch range and shell it for a few minutes before it went under, the second and third boats both had to be dealt with that way as well because I'd shoot off every Harpoon and my helicopters Penguins and Hellfire's all had been shot down as well.

Hmm, my experience with Fleet Command was that it was actually fairly realistic.

Ground Control and the Myth series aren't too bad, other than the whole damage bar thing (not to mention magic and future tech).

Not under any circumstances Real War.

Fleet Command is good, as is Ground Control.

Gotta love those A-10s with dual machineguns mounted on the vertical stabilizers.

I think Cossacks and Stronghold are quite realistic. Medieval Total War maybe...

Myth had realistic physics, but the gore is a little overdone at times. One shot of an arrow can cause a trooper to break into many bloody pieces.

Stronghold is...meh. Good siege element not featured in many other games, but other than that its not all that realistic. M:TW owns it in nearly every way imaginable.

I've had days like that, where no matter what I threw at it it was shot down. Never had something take that much damage and still keep shooting though. Certainly not my ships.

And damn, I feel bad every time one of my FFGs takes a hit. *sigh* Sure, it's protecting my carrier, but the poor little Frigate...

Oh well. If I'm ever gonna make Admiral and find myself in a real naval slugfest, I better get over that pretty quick. :|

the Crayvenn Forces of Ground Control, seem realistic, with rear armour etc.

Generals! Because we all know that it takes 8 shots from the barrel of a modern tank to put down a Chinese soldier.

Or Stingers can hit B-52s and shoot down TLAM strikes ...

Which reminds me, the game also tended to have extremely low fleet numbers, a CVBG with four escorts was big, one or two was common.

The best RTS for accuracy is probably one of the Harpoon versions.

Yeah, that was annoying. But if you go in the Mission Editor and make one of those "Standard Formation" CVBGs it gives you two CGs, four DDGs and some FFGs. Why can't they do that in the damn Single Missions?! :x
