Most Annoying Dice Rolling?

What in your gaming experience has been the most outrageous grouping of unlikely dice-rolls?
For me, two things spring to mind, both while playing battletech.
First time, in a Masakari(4 ppc model) fire a volley at a Gladiator. Hit with all 4, rolling a 12 to hit once. On hit location, hit right arm, center torso, then center torso possible crit. For possible crits, roll a 12. proceed to hit one engine, two gyro, taking the mech down for the count. roll last to hit, its a 12, blow off the head with the poor pilot trapped inside before he can punch out.
Second time, in a Black Lanner C(6 ER meds) run right up to a Daishi Widowmaker. Fire my lasers, score two head shots, blow its head off. Next turn run up to the next heaviest mech on their side, score one head shot. Had to leave the con at that point(really pissed me off too).

Ahhh, yes, dice...
The most memorable scenario involved the Dice That Were Banned. They were sort of mottled translucent greenish, a whole set, 4 through 20. Anyways they can never be used. Ever. Except by me, 'cuz I'm the DM.
It all goes back to when a certain player min/maxed his Fighter's equipment (and, as I later found out, "miscalculated" the price....). Angered by this blatant display of arrogance and audacity by a mere mortal, I started sending some respectable-level shit at him - all of which he fended off without a problem. So I said fuck it and sent a 12-headed Learnean* (sp?) Cryohydra at him. There was no way he could take that on without some serious magical hardware. Unless he uses the d20 of the Dice That Were Banned. And rolls a 20. And gets a critical hit. With another 20. Making it an instant kill. Some I'm like, "shit," and rule that it merely permanently kills one of the heads, unless he can get another 20. So he rolled another 20. And thus the Dice That Were Banned became Banned.
*Learnean hydras can only be killed if all the heads are severed and the body is completely destroyed...otherwise 2 heads grow in place of where there was 1 before, making it even more difficult...

Many Long Years Ago, playing a custom written (and soon superceded) Aliens based game.
One squad of marines sees a Facehugger.
Big hairy bastard with a Smartgun opens up on it.
Five hits.
Facehugger needs five sixes to survive.
It got them all. Jammy wee bastard that it was.

Risk and Axis and Allies are notorious for this in my circle of friends.

Good god yes, the Impregnable defense of doom, that eats your entire army trying to kill two guys, the Infantry of death scoring a hit for every two of them each round, and the battleships of can't hit shit.

Kryptonite Dice? I think the more common term is 'Loaded Dice!'

I seem to have a curse on game winning rolls in WH40K universe games:
1- Big Necromunda game down at local GW. It was all the normal gangs vs the muties and a bunch of chaos marines. The chaos marines were trying to summon a deamon. It was the last turn of the game and everyone else had either had no chance to prevent the summoning or fluffed a really tough one. I couldn't get line of sight to the sorcceror doing the summoning but i had clear LOS to the building he was hiding under. I open up with the Heavy Plasma Gun, hit the buiilding and i need a 2+ on a D6 to bring the building downon his head and win the game. I roll a 1.
2- Another big game down at the local store this time WH40K. Last turn and the royal family that the chaos side (my side) are trying to kill has almost escaped death. We only need to kill one more to win the game. My plasma gun hits, again i need to rule 2+ on a D6, again i roll a 1.
3- WH40K game with one of my mates. He has a devastator squad with four plasma cannons. in the first turn he rolls four ones to hit, overheats all the plasma cannons and fails all his armour saves. I laughed my ass off.
4- Another WH40K game and another game winning roll in the last turn. My squad occupying the objective get hit hard by fire power. I need to roll under 10 on 2 D6 to stop them running away and losing me the objective. I roll 11. I get a re-roll 'cos my general is near, i roll 12. My guys flee and the objective remains in my opponents hands!

I love these stories. My friends have some good ones, but I can't remember them.
The only D&D game I ever played - rolled some really great stats for my sorceror, such that it could outmelee our tank, who had done rather badly. Can't remember exactly what class he was. Anyway, our first battle involves at least a dozen of something bipedal and weak, but I can't remember what they're called. Basic grunts. I'm armed with a crossbow and my magic. I don't end up having any use for my magic. I kill one incoming grunt from max range. I kill another as they close. Another hit pins one to a tree. A further hit kills one, goes straight through and kills another. I'm critting like mad and have no idea what I'm doing. I close on the one at the tree and kill him with my knife while my team takes on the rest. I think I killed another after that.

I could fill 3 or 4 thread with my GW dice stories, but I do have a great AD&D one from a competition....we'd split the party up, the two rangers and my bard went off following some bandits back to thier base....they were in some ruins and disturbed some undead creature....
We had almost nothing that could harm it save for some holy water the ranger missed it with...at that point in heroic fashion I charged it from behind as it attacked a bandit.
I was using a longsword and a dagger+1....I rolled a pair of 20's for my to hit getting critical, then rolled max damage... it was just enough to smash the thing.

We're playing Rifts, Phase World, and are currently trying to take out an experienced Royal Kreeghor(very bad news) who's head of the garrison, before he can alert the spaceport. To give you some idea of what a bastard this guy was, I had by character of death from the other thread, armed with a rune sword, backed up by three respectable characters, all with their rune swords, and we couldn't put this asshole down. First fight in the control room, we kill the rest of the crew there, and put something like 6-700 M.D. into him, before he casts a time warp effect, that gets him away from us and a mile down the road. We catch up to him, minus the least powerful of us who stays to keep watch on the liberated town. By now he's healed most of the damage we've done. The two combatants, Me and a snake woman in power armor, hit him, when our psychic gets the brilliant idea of paralysing him. Tries it several times, yay, it worked. However, he then used his psionics to paralyse all of us, boo. He then begins to levitate, while paralysed, and flies down range. We recover, the Snake woman says fuck this, I'm going home to try to get the super-tank we captured working. I pursue with the psychic. Catch up to him, finally he's out of magic and psionics, using his last to create a psi-sword. He wins initiative(out doing me even though I had a plus ten bonus), and lays into me. I parry all but one shot, then throw my first attack(expecting to have to throw at least ten more this round, and continue attacking for several more rounds to dispatch him) Low and behold, roll a crit, which with the x3 rune weapon bonus vs. Kreeghor gives me x6 damage, for about 170 points. Roll on the crit table, and end up cutting his head in half, right there. We've spent the last two hours at the game table trying to bring him down, and he drops from fully healed to dead in one shot.
Took a minute at that point to dismember his body, and fry the remains, except for the head which I kept for a trophy.

Well, numerous times on Risk I've had a run of about 5 double sixes when I was defending, and went on to clear out the 20 odd troups he attacked me with on that turn, losing only 4 men from 10, IIRC. But there have been plenty of times when I have consistently rolled 1's and 2's and had my entire game plan come undone because of it...

WH40K: 15 Hormagaunts charge into a Tactical Squad. They inflict no casualties. That was a game I would prefer to forget...

Ahh...2nd Ed. WH40k, I had one round where a tactical marine armed with just his bolt pistol managed to beat a carnifex in close combat....that was a damn fine game.

I have this cheap little Risk ripoff called Domination. The amount of times I lost a battle with superior forces... Gee-fucking-whiz...

My army was usually led by a chaplin, they usually beat the shit out of all opponents....and when my custom chapter master, made using the rules they published in WD, turned up to a battle it was a sure thing.....he took an army of genestealers hand to hand....7 at a time....
Combat drugs, a displacer field and master crafted plasma pistol....as well as a pair of power swords and a jump pack.....he was a nutter.....

Fantasy Warhammer.
Me and a friend. Orcs vs. Orcs. 1700 points. I had a Giant. I charged him with it and half his army had to take Terror tests. Using his general's leadership he had to roll 9 or less on two d6 for his troops to stay. He didn't for most of them. A good chunk of his army ran away.
But as you know, dice are creations of evil. Later my Shaman general was casting his spells of evilness when I rolled a misfire. Misfires are BAD for orcs, as they can be killed outright with no save on a 1 on a d6. I rolled a 1. Luckly I had given him a talisman that let him reroll any misfire roll once. Care to guess what the reroll was? Yep, another 1. So while my general's brain splattered all over the place my army haad to take flee tests. Orcs are notriously bad at this, so now half my army ran away, too.
At the end he won. By how much? We each had a nearly unbeatable champion left each. Equal points. And he had 6 goblins. So a 1700 point battle was decided by him having 6 goblins more than me left.
Now
that was a battle.

AD&D
I want this insanity
1 Crossbow Bolt>Nine Goblins
Fired into a damn crowd of 30+ goblins charging the party, Mr Ranger stops to fire a bolt back to hopefuly slow them down and percedes to crit thorugh nine goblins, killing the last one with a bolt to the chest that had just got thorough going thorugh eight goblin heads(We played under extra rules inculding double crit means the arrow/object keeps going letting crazy shit like this sometimes happen)
(To do that he needed to row 3 6's per goblin.... think about that)

The worst I ever got was 5 critical failtures in a row.
The game used a d20 for most attack/defense skill
rolls.

Aside form a number of AD&D/Arduin wierdness.
There was the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay I had a Elven Ranger that was notorious for making called shots. At one point I killed a Skaven wizard who was hanging outside of normal bow shots.

Besides the accursed (& percentile(four times in a row...Random blast destroys a building...the one my character is in...I use all my power points for the day using telekinesis on the temple to rebuild it...lawful good sucks)
I was playing risk..I attacked central Am with 30 armies...My opponent has 10... and she rolls...
Boxcars, boxcars....
She had a 2.5 to 1 kill ratio...
Then my ally...seeing y weakness, abolishes our treaty, and attacks e from behind...wiping me off the map.

Ahhh, risk. The only game where you can launch an assault against a surrounded, isolated position with no less than a strength of 15 to 1 odds in your favor and still find a way to lose.
