Arggggggggggggh now have to download a service pack all over again (downloaded the full 100+MB SP3 network version so I wouldn't have to redownload it when I nuked the computer, which happens often). How big is it? Any features like compatibility, stability or just security updates?

Here's the list.

You should slipstream CDs when a new SP comes out.

Well looks like I don't need it.. Don't think I've been bothered by any of those bugs.

What's slipstreaming cds?

Basically, you copy the CD to your computer, run the service pack with some special switch, and it integrates into the CD's files. You burn the CD (as a bootable of course) and you now have a Win2K install CD that, when you install it, will already have SP4 (or whatever SP you slipstream) installed.

You are sure this is not a beta release or sumthing?

No word about sp4 on MS hompage.

Anyways D/L it and giving it a spin tomorrow on the test server.

Well, I don't use WMP, so I don't care :P . Well too lazy to download this SP anyways, so *shrug*. Most of the onerous licensing came with SP3, but what are they going to do about it?

and my copy is of questionable legality because my sister's bf gave it to me. Of course I'm not using it currently, since I'm spending time customizing my linux side. Maybe I'll buy it on E-bay after I get a summer job after I finish summer school.

Bugfixes and security patches are more important to me than nebulous DRM which doesn't affect my machines in the least. They've also reworded the EULA in response to consumer complaints.

Yeah, that was my beef about SP3. And does it have the same sort of invasive EULA that came with SP3? If so, I think I can live with just picking and choosing the updates that are relevant to me.

EULA has changed. Slashdot had an article on it awhile back.

I'm not sure what they changed, so read up on it. It, however, has never affected me in the slightest. At least on the workstation side I'm hearing good reports, no clue as to the server side.

Well, I suppose it's not like it matters that much anyway. I prefer to get the updates individually from Windows Update. And I'm running Linux most of the time now, so...
