Ikaruga

I just bought Ikaruga for Gamecube. Man, this game is awesome. Have any of you played it?

It's one of those Raiden-style games where you're an airplane in a top-down view, and you shoot crazy-lazers at badguys. Except that in this one, you have two shields, a white shield and a black shield. The badguys are of two types, white planes and black planes, and the white planes shoot white bullets and the black planes shoot black bullets. When you turn on your white shield, you're immune to white bullets, and you shoot white bullets. Vice versa with the black shield. Your white bullets do 2x damage to black badguys, and vice versa with the black bullets.
It's crazily addicting. I recommend it for anyone who has a GC and is a fan of the top-down flying/shooting genre. I got it for 29.99 at GameCrazy, used.

I heard about that, sounds like old school coolness, I'm definitely going to get it.

Note, also, that I also need to get Metroid Prime still.

That's the game someone posted that amazing game video from a couple of months back, isn't it? I'm sure the topic's around here somewhere..

No it's not. It's a different game than Ikaruga.

I've played it on my Friend's gamecube before... Very fun.

We each had different color shields when fighting multicolor parts and blocked the corresponding colors... Worked fairly well.

Yeah. Ikaruga. Only thing is, you can forget about didging all the bullets like you could in other games - the game designers made it so that you have to use the mode-switch abilities to get past the boss' attacks.

Yeah. In fact, you can get through the entire game without firing a shot, supposedly. When you get to the boss stage, there's a timer, and at the end of that, he goes away.
Though I wonder how you would get past a few parts in chapter two where there are blocks in your way. Maybe unloading the homing lasers isn't considered cheating.

Have it for the DC...cool game.

My only problem is with two people it gets damn confusing and evil if the other person isn't as knowledgeable as you are of some stages.
