Anyone else found this game? agtp.romhack.net recently released an English translation patch (NO ROM!), and I've been playing it the last couple of days.

Basically, it's an SNES RPG by Squaresoft, and came out sometime in 1996 in Japan. What made it stand out from, say, the relatively-recent Final Fantasy 6 was it's spell system: players made spells by writing in the spell name, and a spell would automatically be generated. This may be what prevented it from being released in the US, but that didn't stop dedicated translators. And the limits to what you can do are limited only by your imagination, the character limit, and the fact that you can't use numbers or symbols. I've been having a ball doing nothing but creating new and kooky spells, along with a few stardestroyer.net exclusives:

SDNET - Water, Targets All (also inflicts Freeze status)
DARTHWONG - Lightning, Targets All
ADMIRALKANOS - Fire, Single Target
DARKSTAR - Light (a.k.a. Holy), Single Target
MKSHEPPARD - Void (a.k.a. Non-Elemental), Single Target
TOWNMNBS - Lightning, Single Target
SEX - Void, Single Target (this one is amusing because the word 'SEX' flies across the screen in big pink letters and bowls over the enemy)
GOD - Dark (a.k.a. Shadow/Evil), Single Target (Interesting, huh? )

I always through God preferred area-effect spells. You know, destroying an entire city or flooding an entire planet because a few people pissed him off.

Anyway, I downloaded the ROM for this a long time ago, before the translation patch was done. I was impressed by the combat animation, but didn't play it too much since I couldn't read any of the text.

"Darkstar" spell is a representation of his blinding idiocy, no doubt.

Mind telling me on AIM sometime where to get this?
