Also, EV and EVO will be ported to the EVN engine - which may mean that us Windows users can finally play them without resorting to slow-as-heck emulation

I wouldn't mind heck as slow emulation if I could actually find the damn fucking Mac BIOS

The game is basically Elite in 2D. Open ended, you improve your ship and all that. Pretty good actually.

Yo, Phong?
I lost my copy when my computer died on me 3 weeks ago...

I have a Mac II ROM image somewhere around here, give me a bit.
I found an excellent trade route (get bioweapons from Codec, go dump it off at that asteroid base the Rebels use for parts, get equipment, dump it at Europa, get luxary goods, dump them at Earth, then get medical supplies and send them to Sirius II)
My modified Pirate Enterprise and four of those small T-freighters or whatever were netting something like .3-.4 million per run, even after expenses.
Alas, I'm on the Vellos storyline so I'll be giving up my ride for the Dart later (lets see - I have the Sigma Engine upgrade, the Vectored Thrust upgrade, the Port n' Polish, a jump range of 7...)
What I really want is the Pirate non-carrier capital ship, fully upgraded

Buy the game! Ambrosia needs the cash and you can get through more of the game (and capture ships) with the registered edition.

Will Nova work on my PII 350?

It should... might run a bit slow, but you can hit the caps lock key, and it will skip frames, making it run faster.

Hmph. I'm on that damned mission to distract the Monash, and I keep getting owned.
I have a Manticore with: 4 Fusion Cannon, 8 Ion Cannon, 2 Light Turret, 2 Medium Turret and 1 Storm Turret (plus 20 Hellbore missiles) and I keep getting crushed before the carriers can lend decent support to me
(Oh yes, and I have all the engine upgrades money can buy).
Anyone know where you can buy the Quad Light Blaster Turret?

Damn you
phongn! I was going to start a thread on this.
Anyway, here's the link;
http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/evn/desktops.html for desktop backgrounds of the ships for everyone.
....While we're at I guess I'll post my ships stats:
This last one's big, it's a screen shot of my ship with it's Federation Destroyer escort that I.....er....liberated.

Shouldn't you have the Dart by then? Anyway all you have to do is land in the station. Try using your escorts to soak damage.

Besides Cap'n Hector it will only let you progress about a 1/4 of the way through any of the career strings until ingame characters start telling you to register.

Wow. It's actually one hell of a fun game.
And JUST what I was looking for with my 'I must play Asteroids-style games' rant elsewher in the forum! Your mod is a happy mod.
I think I'll buy this, right after I purchase Starscape from moonpod.

Holy shit, you actually used a Levithian as a warship? Daaamn. But where do you get the quad light blaster turret? I'd much rather have those than those Stormfire turrets.
My Pirate Manticore...
I once launched eight Vipers and three Darts against an unsuspecting pack of Bureau RAGE gunboats (along with my escort of 2x Class D Pirate Starbridges, 1 Armed Levithian, 1 NC1170 IDG Frigate and 1 Updated Engine Pegasus)

If you don't want to get sucked into the Vell-os storyline, don't accept a package delivery to Earth (usually massing between 1-9 tons). You'll eventually be forced to (1) be enslaved by the Bureau of Internal Investigation and have many merry missions or (2) high-tail it to Auroran space and start the Polaris campaign.

I knew that before I posted. I had actually reached the Vell'os cutoff after a couple hours.
