A bit of background before embarking on this sad tale: There's this mod of half life known as Team Fortress Classic. Great team based combat, capture the flag and such. Now, one of the classes you can play as is an 'engineer'. Makes sentry guns, etc. One of the engineer's unique weapons is the horribly weak laser pistol, which fires at a ridiculously slow rate and has very easy to dodge, laggy shots.

Well, I was checking out my favorite server's list of daily awards, when I noticed something. That day, one of the players killed me 2x with the wimpy engy laser. Guess what his award was?

Railgun Master! This waste of pixels and programming is a RAILGUN!

I pride myself on being able to kill snipers with that shitty weapon. But hey, Emp nades more than make up for the engineers pathetic guns.

That wee pop gun was amazing...'tis a true test of skill to bring down actual gun toting maniacs charging at you at the time..

TFC feels like a friggin' pinball machine. All you do is bounce around everywhere while the ultrafast scout scores all the goals. And you have guns that shoot little pyramids that don't hit anyone and when they do they barely do any damage.

It's a damn nailgun, and that's the point of having rapid fire. Classes with it aren't really made for close combat

Sgs stop scouts fine, as do medics chasing after them, or soldiers.

Railgun is really weak, I never use it. Stick to the shotgun (Unless you're firing across the map at a Sg) Only newbs who don't know it sucks or people seeking to humilate others do that.

I pride myself on making headshots faster than 95% of the people when they aim for the body. I'm also a good medic, flag capping and infecting

Engie's railgun is decent for taking out sentries and pushing nade bag whores out of the way

Who the fuck cares if it's weak otherwise? Engies can whore emps all day, and are a pyro's worst nightmare since dumping ammo/cells won't save them from an engie with nades to spare.

TFC is only the greatest half life mod ever. I was so addicted to it back in 1999 and 2000.

Y'know, just because this is a gaming forum doesn't mean everyone's heard of TFC. Someone might very well have thought this was about The Furry Conflict. No need to make moronic posts when someone describes what they're talking about.

Had you posted that, say, two pages in, it might more easily be considered sarcastic. As it is, that post of yours was #4, the third response in the thread. Also, as JediNeophyte pointed out, despite the fact that this is a gaming forum (more specifically, gaming and computers), it is quite likely that there are people who don't know what Team Fortress is at all. Let's face it, TF2 is virtually vaporware, and TFC has been overshadowed by CS and NS for the last few years.

It would have giving some indication that you were, in fact, joking, when you gave none initially. There are other methods, like an extremely small "j/k" at the end of your post, or judicious use of various text effects to suggest emotive qualities.

The railgun in the original Team Fortress was worthy of note. Decent firepower, nice speed, and it could fire through doors.
