My screen is dead!

It suddenly went black and made a strange electric buzzing sound. And then smoke started coming out so I turned it off. Good thing that it was my old computer and not this one.
I wonder what might have happened to it. I was thinking that maybe a fly had crawled down in it through one of those "ventilation holes" and shorted out something. Oh well now I have to buy a new screen... Crap...
Anyone have any ideas what might have caused this?

Dust killed my old 19' crt screen.
But then I got a reason to buy my nice 17' tft so...

Whoops, someone probly <Technobabble>punctured the monitor's nuclear, oops, 'Nukeular" balloon fusion reactor with the Magic Smoke™ in it... </Technobabble>

That seems likely. The thing is that it started this weird behaviour shortly after I had switched it on. Lightbulbs tend to burn out went you light them, maybe it's the same with comp. screens.

This happened to my computer screen to. I turned it off. Later I tried turning it back on and I started to smell smoke. I think it just overheated, don't know why.

That's why i didn't have a computer for 2-3 years or so. Screen died and my mom refused to listen that a new monitor would be more efficient than putting everything out for free
