Gents;

There's a HUGE MP3 from the Howard Stern show when he was on the air as 9/11 happened. Does anyone have the means to cut this thing up so it can be archived on a few 800MB CDs, or advice on how to do so?

Thanks, Phong! Do you have a recommendation on any of these?

Alas, no. I've been browsing the Daily MP3 Archive for years now but never bothered to mess with a splitting program. I'd say that you should use a test MP3 and play around with a few programs first (e.g. making sure that the MP3s are properly split and that no re-encoding is taking place)

I remember that day and that broadcast. He was amazing, he went from being a wiseass to just sober but trying to keep our spirits up at the same time. Definately one of his finer moments.

Er...on my harddrive right now! Hmm...its not as big as I remember. 27MB. But I couldn't get it on a CD for some reason. Haven't tried in over a year, so I'll do it again.

Save it as an audio track then. It should take only about 270 mb, or about 30 minutes.

EDIT: Oh wait, I'm not taking into account bitrate... 10:1 is the aproximate compression you get at 128 kbps

Whoa, I thought my 65 minute George Carlin mp3 was big...

If it's off the radio show it's unlikely to be 128kbit, since that's rather high for such a poor source.
