Campaign thread!
All posts here should be either in-character or relating to your character's actions, except for mine obviously. If you have issues with myself or another player or anything else, PM me.
We will be beginning in the area of Inverness. PM/IM me once you see this and are ready to begin, so that we can have everybody start when they're ready with a minimum of clutter.
A few notes:
Minor geographic liberties will need to be taken, I've dug through as many vague and messy maps of medieval Scotland as I can stand.
Most Gaelic will be Anglicized for sanity of all involved parties.
Let the Killer Dunge- er, fun, happy campaign begin!
Once you're in the game, simply post some action your character does if you want to get involved again. Obviously I can't monitor everyone that's online 24/7, so if you're here to continue the story, make sure I know. If nothing involving your character has been posted in awhile, I will stop advancing your portion of the adventure until you return and concentrate on others who are online. I have designed this so you can drop off pretty much wherever and pick it up as soon as you're awake/available again. Of course, that applies to me as well so I may not respond until I have finished with that silly holdover you mortals know as "s l e e p".
EDIT: Watch this space! House rules and the like will be added [Cartman]myah[/Cartman]:
-Claymore: as greatsword (Large, martial, 2d6 damage, 19-20/x2 crit)
-Simplified Combat to reduce unnecessary complication over a forum medium, I won't be nitpicking too much in simple fights over attacks of oppurtunity, readied actions, etc.

Alastar Thaumaster and Kenji, you find yourselves in Inverness. You both lie sprawled in an alley and it is nearly dawn. Neither of you know how you came to be here, nor why you are with the other.
And of course the obligatory, "What do you do?"

The human does not respond; he appears to still be unconscious.
You are distracted by the footsteps of another, coming around the corner...

A large, heavyset man skids around the corner, breathing heavily.
"You are the elf? Alastar?" he says, obviously seeing through the simple spell, "Grab your friend, come, we have little time! We must find Johan!" You have no idea who this Johan is, but the man has a desperate look in his eyes that tells you he is either a very good liar or you need to move, and quick.

"Ok.. But if you are lying to me..."
Alastar picked up the young monk(Str Check: 17) and followed

You follow the man through a maze of winding alleys and sidestreets until he stops at a small, old building that looks like it was constructed by a drunk orc. He opens the only visible door and shoves you in, saying, "In, and be quiet! Don't do anything stupid! I will get Johan."
He runs off down the alley and you are left in the dark, creaky shack with the unconscious human.

Johan Ragle, you have recently arrived from Cawdor, trying to distance yourself from Vikings and other... unpleasantness. As you are milling about town, you spot a well-muscled man shove his way through any peasants in the way trying to get to you. He looks determined to reach you at all costs.

You see a collection of straw in one corner in addition to a variety of personal items, including a claymore.

I set the man down on the straw and check for any noticable injuries

Apart from a few bumps and scrapes from all the moving around, he appears to be fine, though still unconcious.

I duck into a dense group of peasants, trying to keep my head below the average height, and grab a dagger to throw if the man proves hostile.

The man slows down and scans left and right you, then spots you again and bustles his way through the crowd. He reaches you quickly and says, "I am Duncan mac Greggor, are you Johan?" Not waiting for an answer, he grabs you by the arm and tugs you off the street saying, "Come on, I mean you no harm but we must move quickly!"

Seeing no other alternative, and somewhat glad that I don't have a sword pressed against my throat, I re-sheath my dagger and try not to trip as we run.

Judging by my character, it is likely I am on the outskirts of town, observing whatever comotion is occuring...unless the DM needs him to appear elsewhere.

Duncan takes you to a dilapidated shack and you both enter. As he shuts the door behind him, you see two humans in the corner, one unconscious on a bed of straw. He speaks to everyone.
"I apologize for the haste, but we were not safe out there. We will be here, for the time being at least. I am Duncan mac Greggor and I was sent here to find you and keep you hidden. There are powers at work that, from what I have been told, want to kill you or worse. Why, I do not know. I must leave on pressing business elsewhere, do not do anything foolish! Beware those who would deceive you."
He grabs the claymore and a few other items and quickly leaves.

As you wander about town, you note a man lead three others on two different occasions into some back alleys, each time returning alone. He seems to be looking for certain people.
You also notice quite a few people who don't quite fit in - their attitude is wrong, and their physical appearance does not match the peasants they are obviously trying to blend in with. They, too, appear to be searching for someone or something...

I choose to discreetly follow the man who is leading others away, I am intrigued...

"I'm Johan Ragle," I reply in Gaelic, idly inspecting the door. I notice that Duncan locked it. "And it seems that we're stuck here for the time being. What about your friend over there?"

" Actually have no idea who this person is.. I just got here from the Black Forest, and found him in an alley."

You tail the man; this time he seems to be heading out of town. Either he does not notice you or does not care. As you are following him, you are unexpectedly cut off by two of the strange, cloaked men.
"Ah, the... thing," one says, "You are Toren, yes? Please... come with us, we have a bit of a proposition for you concerning the one you were following..." It doesn't look like they'll take no for an answer.
