Brood War intro movie confusion

Ok, we see the ground battle and than we see the two talking on the Alexander, and a crewman asks if they should help, my question is whose colony was this? If its a dominion colony, why are the UED there watching? If its a UED colony, why isn't the UED protecting its colonies instead of invading the Zerg head on?
Just a little bit of confusion from a deep Starcraft fan.

I believe it's an outlying Dominion colony that the UED has come to watch the destruction of.

Its not a UED colony. I think they where observing just to get a grip on what the capabilites of the Zerg where. To the Admiral the life of the colonists was irrelevent when compared to the interests of Earth. I think it also sets the stage for some sort of big conspiracy.

Shoot, that's a Dominion colony? I was wondering why the Admiral's BC wasn't helping out. Kinda funny when the marine thinks that BC is their air support.

Ok, other movie questions, why in the original Starcraft intro movie did the protoss blow up that salvage vessel, if they are eliminating the Zerg presence, why blow up a ship picking up junk parts?
What was that vehicle that was driving into the tunnel as it was being shot at in the final Brood War video?
Why do the UED have the exact same battlecrusiers as the Dominion?
In the Mengsk Coronation video, what were the Wraiths blowing up that looked like small parallelograms.
Why does the confederation use the American Cofederation flag?
That's it for now, maybe more later.

Sheer spitefullness?
What was that vehicle that was driving into the tunnel as it was being shot at in the final Brood War video?
No idea.
Why do the UED have the exact same battlecrusiers as the Dominion?
Again, no idea.
In the Mengsk Coronation video, what were the Wraiths blowing up that looked like small parallelograms?
Small transport vessels, IMO. There is a cutscene later on in which an identical craft is transporting a Dominion demolition squad.
Why does the confederation use the American Cofederation flag?
Perhaps for dramatic purposes, though i'm not sure.
That's it for now, maybe more later.
Well, 2 out of 5 isn't that bad...

Come to think of it, something that strikes me as odd is that in the initial scene of the Brood War intro, the marines empties an entire clip into a pair of zerglings, and fails to kill them...

How come being hit by a jeep can kill a zerg, but not by a full clip from a gauss rifle?
What is that tank that blows up the injured Dragoon and how come we never see it again?
In the Demolition scene, who of the marines was in charge?
Why do the genetic purists of Earth actually keep the young overmind, wouldn't they think its some evil other species that needs t be eliminated?
How much was Kerrigan changed(mentally) so that she wants to become uber queen of the galaxy?
Is this really how the story ends? with Kerrigan conquering everyone and the galaxy is doomed?

They reduced the surface of the planet to mostly lava and killed all life human and Zerg, they where just being thorough.
What was that vehicle that was driving into the tunnel as it was being shot at in the final Brood War video?
I have no idea, but supposedly the novels mention a couple vehicles and units not seen in the game.
Why do the UED have the exact same battlecrusiers as the Dominion?
Because balancing a new power would have taken too long and cost too much.
In the Mengsk Coronation video, what were the Wraiths blowing up that looked like small parallelograms.
Transports, note the forward doors and the use of the same craft to board the abandon science vessel
Why does the confederation use the American Cofederation flag?
Because it's a civilization of red necks exiled from Earth.

To make absolutely certain they got them all. The orders were to sterilize the planets and their immediate neighborhood. Basically the Protoss didn't give a damn about the lives of those killed in making sure the Zerg were exterminated.
What was that vehicle that was driving into the tunnel as it was being shot at in the final Brood War video?
No idea.
Why do the UED have the exact same battlecrusiers as the Dominion?
The general explanation is that the UED knew where they were and what they were up to and generally interfered with out the Dominion's knowing it.
The other possiblity is that the UED Battlecruisers are of the same basic design lineage. One the colonists used as a basis when they set out and they based their's on.
In the Mengsk Coronation video, what were the Wraiths blowing up that looked like small parallelograms.
Comsats.
Why does the confederation use the American Cofederation flag?
They were criminals, fringe outcasts and anti-social types. That they should pick such a redneckian symbol is rather appropriate.

He was probably shooting high for most of the rounds, and the Zerglings on the Amerigo also took a lot of hits they would have to be pretty damn well protected to ever have any effect on troops with ranged weapons.
How come being hit by a jeep can kill a zerg, but not by a full clip from a gauss rifle?
It may just have been stunned, and given the lack of visible impacts on the mentioned pair of Zerglings, note the many visible impacts during the battle on the Amerigo, its likely the panicked guy was simply spraying his fire and not actually hitting them. A better question would be why they fuck they just stood there to be killed by some slow moving rocket grenades.
In the Demolition scene, who of the marines was in charge?
Probably the guy leading, but then why the fuck are you asking such a question? Why the fuck does it matter?
Why do the genetic purists of Earth actually keep the young overmind, wouldn't they think its some evil other species that needs t be eliminated?
Did you actually play the game or not? for someone to eager to ask questions I think you'd be aware of the basic plot, which was to use the overmind to control the Zerg to conquer the sector for the Dominion. Thus saving the Dominion countless lives and resources.
How much was Kerrigan changed(mentally) so that she wants to become uber queen of the galaxy?
How the fuck are we suppost to know?
Is this really how the story ends? with Kerrigan conquering everyone and the galaxy is doomed?
The ending text of the game a hidden Protoss mission would say hell no, and given how long Blizzard has strung out Warcraft you can be sure they'll make a squeal some day. Probably once they're done with expansions for Warcraft III. Certainly they left the ending far more open then those of the various Warcraft games.

Ugh, I really hope they don't make SC2 with even a hint of a memory of WC3 in mind. I really hated that engine.

According to the secret mission, Duran isn't who he seems to be. I think he's Xel'Naga? There's experiments, including a Protoss/Zerg hybrid. I think they're meant to be the perfect experiment...
Edit: Sorry, I put ending mission instead of secret mission.

Comsats.
No, they were transports. You're thinking of the cutscene before you attack Tarsonis.

I really think the Protoss did that cause the salvage crew saw them and the former didn't want anyone who's seen them leave to tell other Terrans about them.
What was that vehicle that was driving into the tunnel as it was being shot at in the final Brood War video?
A Vulture. I'm sure of it. An Ultralisk was walking inside that tunnel and it slashed at the Vulture as it came in. I highly doubt it was a Valkyrie.

You can also obtain a Hydralisk in one mission.

A friend of mine keeps really close tabs on Blizzard. Apparently their main office has been officially sitting on their hands for the past few weeks, except for those working on patching Frozen Throne. In particular, their cinematography department has been doing jack shit for a while now. So I think we can guess what they're working on. We know their plot department has been hard at work for Ghost, and a couple of slips have mentioned StarCraft 2. But Nihilistic is handling most of dev for that, so that can't be all that they're working on. And Diablo 2 is Blizzard North's problem, so that isn't it. Yeah, it's coming, and it will be good. But it will be a while. However, I imagine most of our current plot questions will be answered by Ghost. I will have to get said info off of someone who bothers with consoles.

IIRC, Ghost is set during Brood War, not after it, so we won't know what going to happen next. Still, the game may reveal something on the Xel'Naga; that's what I'm hoping for anyways.

Night Elf mission 2, its up along the top of the map on the right side, near where you get some ballistas and hidden behind trees. Knock them down with the ballistas and move your hero over to have it join your forces. You can find it easily with the reveal map cheat.

In an interview they said it takes place 10 years after.
