THis is probably a repost, but which is better, Halo or Quake (Q3a).

Duh. QUAKE!!!!

Quake started the whole Internet Multiplayer thing, and Quake 2 introduced a weapon that entire cults were built around: The Railgun!

Plus Quake's engine is used in so many other games as well, not to mention it helped egg the video card manufacturers to produce better, faster, and more powerful hardware.

Ahem. Both games have their own merits, such as Quake having a long-standing community (and railguns, but I know someone else who'll want to mention that...), and Halo having the aforementioned vehicles. Seriously, they rock.

bleh, Quake. The Q3 engine is used in very many games, Halo engine is used in uhh, Halo...

Mitth-raw-nuruodo and I were also thinking about making the RL slower-firing, much more powerful, and with Q1 type rocket speed. Like a Panzerfaust but faster.

We would have to make MUCH BIGGER maps with like rolling terrain...

Also multiple ammunition types for the weapons (think Bazooka Quake or Alternate Fire) would be hella kewl. :D

Halo obviously provides a better single-player experience (no duh).

But for sheer skill involved, I think quake 3 has this one.




(on an unrelated note: I've been playing railgun only CTF games and I've been pulling out 100+ kills in several games :P )

Quake Engine >> Halo
Halo > Quake the game

Unfortunately, the main feature of Quake is the multiplayer, something Halo lacks in considerably (the XBconnect and Gamepsy tunnels are pretty basic).

Halo wins in SP hands down, but if I was looking for MP play, I'd have to go with Quake. It's so hard to get everyone over to my house for some 6 on 6 Halo action and I hate going to the local LAN spot just for Halo (if anyone is even there to play).

There was a airplane/tank/jeep "simulator" for Quake. Levels had streets, canyons and stuff and you fired realistic seeking missiles.

GO HL2!! Shinova, do you have Steam? You should get it, very cool, you can play all the main Half-Life games and mods, free! (just don't play HL singleplayer, it has to stop the game compeletely to download anything new from the server you encounter). It also comes loaded with THREE (Count 'em, THREE!) high-quality, high-res HL2 movies, and many more to be released!!
