Newest video for HL2 ("Traptown") is incredible. See for yourself, download Steam, click "Games" -> "Half-Life 2 Media" -> "Traptown". Drool.

Is that the one where they throw the radiator at the marine and send him flying through the vending machine?

yup. They also shoot a car's gas tank and catch many zombies on fire. Great video, must watch!

I love the part where they lure the Zombies into that spinning trap.

shhh, don't give it away... :P

I liked that too. I love the gravity gun, and how uhh, there actually seems to BE gravity (stuff doesn't just keep sailing on straight forever)

Saw this on that HL2 E3 video, but this is in dazzling full-screen high quality.

No shit HL2 is gonna kick the crap out of Doom. HL2 is gonna kick the crap out of everything.

Waaa, sweet. Awesome.

I liked the Kleiner's Lab one too, where they all start attacking you. Makes you wish you had the game right now, don't it?

You bring up an excellent point.

Very much so.

For people who haven't seen anything HL2-related yet, (have you been living under a rock??) but have played Half-Life, I suggest looking at the G-Man video first. It shows the HL1 Gman, then the new super-pretty HL2 Gman. Very nice.

We've been rather busy, Mr. Freeman.

Watching that impresses the hell out of me every time.

It is very impressive. Imagine seeing it at E3 in HL2's personal theater... I'm sure some people creamed their pants seeing that, or at least let out a few offensively loud "WHOAH!!!!"s and the like.

No linux port, while there is for doom3. Besides, they might Doom3 better since it's being delayed
but yes, I realize linux gaming is not commercially viable. Doesn't matter anyway, since my hardware can't run anything.

Believe me when I say this. It is well worth it. Three of these are already available for download from a camcorder rip. THIS blows them all away. Doom 3 can kiss my ass, Half-Life 2 utterly rocks.

But its an 8 hr download! Is there any way to resume it, or save it to my computer when finished?

Not in this version of Steam.

As far as it being on your comp when done, it is. Go to "Steam -> SteamCache -> loginname (eg. ChrisFL@(whee-no-spam)cfl.rr.com if you have more than one, pick the one that you downloaded the movies under) -> half life 2 movies" From there, either click MediaBrowser.exe, or goto Media, and click any of the .exe files in there (should have the name of the movie)

[Begin stupid joke] With downloads this long the game will be out before your done[/stupid joke]

Eight hours isn't the worst I've done by 56k, my worst was ten. But I only managed it by starting it and then going to sleep for the next twelve hours when I was home alone. I'm amazed my connection held out for that long.

New video out, watching now.

EDIT: Called "Tunnels". Shows some enemies, and how nice the AI is. Also shows more graphical prettiness and how everything is real-time (no cutscenes where in other games there would be)

My only gripe about the game so far is how much the Combine soldiers' aim sucks. But I looked at how the guy in the videos played and he sucks A LOT as well. So I'm guessing this is the easiest skill level so the guy doesn't die in the middle of "filming" the movie.

Oh, and you get to set people on fire! Mwahahaha!!

I bet the damage the did was tweaked as well, i'd be surprised if bullets did only one or two points of damage in the final version, even on the easy setting.

These videos were all made ~7 months ago, they've had plenty of time to mess with all of that.
