I am in the process of rebuilding my computer and this includes two new HDs. I am trying to save all my old data on a 40 GB drive but I am having trouble finding the information I need. I want to save my recieved E-Mails from Outlook Express but I can't find them. I could save them individualy, but I would rather not.

If you are using Outlook Express...
...and if you are doing what I THINK you are doing...
You can use the 'Compact all Folders' option under 'Folders' under 'File'. That should backup all your messages and whatnot. Then you can move the compacted file anywhere.

I believe the file extentions for OE is .dbx, I cant recall at the moment if that is the entire mailbox.

It'll take ages, but at least you can be sure that only the important stuff goes through.

Alyeska, do you have a Pocket PC, Handspring, Palm, whatever?
If so, then transfer all your E-mails to the handheld. Then you can transfer them back later.
I don't know how to do it (I don't have a handheld), but I know it's possible.

Using Windows 2000/XP the files are located under:
C:\Documents and Settings\<Your username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{<many random characters>}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
Note: The Local settings folder is hidden.
If you have 98/95/Me please post as such. You will just copy the files back into the same directory (the {<random character>} will probably be different), or you can put the files on floppy (or wherever) and import them.
