Age of Mythology

Time for me to spin a yarn about my favorite AOM game, ever.

It was a 3v3v3 game in some map that ends with -heim and has big mountain ranges blocking off base borders. My friend was with me, which was good because the third on our team dropped. We figured we'd do a wonder since we were inconvienanced like that (plus it makes people mad). I was Hades (he was Zeus) so we decided that I'd build the wonder for the extra HP and he'd keep up the base defenses. We grew slowly, massing hoplites (him) and toxotes (me) to defend our lands as the multiple belts of wall were erected.

Meanwhile, the other two teams were going at it like crazy, flinging their worst god powers and armies at each other, right in our field of vision (I love Peggy, fly on mighty steed!). They built up their own defenses on our borders, blocking their own entrance. We started the wonder, no responce. They wouldn't stop. We each had massive armies poised to repulse the most determined offensive against our quadruple wall outer borders and a quintuple-wall around the wonder itself that also incorperated a town center (with sentinels), several fortresses, and towers. If they had teamed up, however, or used the flying bird transport (There was an Egyptian) we would have been crushed eventually.

The only person to attack was an Egyptian and only with a single catapult against our most heavily defended border. No units came through the breach so we just walled up even more. Eventually the wonder was completed (my entire vill population was put on it) and we were ready. Suddenly, about 10 mins before we won, SOMEONE figured out that we had the wonder completed. They started a HUGE pathetic offensive, sending everything that could fly. The most successful attack was a huge Egyptian attack with camels, two elephants, and tons of catapults plopped right on top of the walls by the flying bird transports. However, since the walls were so densely packed around the wonder, their force was split between layers. Then, someone ingeniously cast...CEASEFIRE! I walled up the rest of their army and put my entire toxote force around them.

They all died within 20 seconds. After that were scattered attacks by phoenixes that were taken care of by Chiron and the defenses and an endless stream of every curse word imaginable. We staged our own "counterattacks" by using up all our godpowers on their buildings (after the Egyptian failed, they went back to fighting themselves oddly. I think I ensured another team's success by earthquaking a huge military complex on one of their borders but by then it was all over and we won. Woo!

Your opponets needed to pay attention more. They should've been wondering ....WHY THE FUCK HAVEN'T YOU ATTACKED YET??!!!
You faced against stupid people.

Now..come back to AoC or Rise of Nations...they're better then AoM :D

Although they were tardtastic when dealing with us, they fought each other quite well. My theory is that they thought they would have their "big push" and knock out the opposition and then go after the wonder but it didn't quite work that way. I admit, I wouldn't have done that. :D

AoM is far more streamlined than AoC and is the superior product, I'm afraid :P. I tried RoN but it wasn't very fun for me, too much stuff to worry about. I prefer Civ or AoE, not both together. ;)
