Nwn Griefing...and smiting...

First...Krynnhaven is amazing....whoever reccomended it should get an award...or several. Despite the rather large download....it's great.

Right...onto the incident..

Last night I was out hunting goblins near Zhea harbour in their mines when I'm strolling down to level 2...I meet this party....all had been well for now..we said our hellos and moved on to continue with the hunt...I move up to the front to see if I can't catch a goblin leader off guard (the room was empty). After seeing the room was empty....I shrug alot and wander back out....then this gimp starts using hax0r speak in character!...I played it off as a speech impediment...we moved off again...and the group met up again in the next room....I ran into them and a bit of banter about a head that was never there in the first place began...at first it was fine...then they accuse me of lying...when I denied it because there wasn't a goblin to kill...they became hostile when I walked away to return to town. they attacked with a grizzy bear, a dire wolf, one druid using call lightning INDOORS and three other whelps I took a chunk out of before going down.

Due to severe lag...I moved to withdraw from the area as they charged...this lasted for a couple turns which ended with me returning to the level I had fled...naturally they followed....by the time I reached the bottom...I had been surrounded and left with no choice but fight or die.

I fought.

Unfortunatly...a level 5 fighter on his own against a level 5 druid with bear and wolf, a level 2 cleric, lev 2 rogue and a lev 2 fighter can hold on....as it was...I went through an absolute fortune in potions...all the while...the whelps stood back and shouted 'I want that sword!'

Eventually I fell...they moved to loot me...and I logged before they could get anything important....I wasn't about to let my hard earned equipment fall to griefers...and this was a desperate enough situation. The bastards didn't fully kill me so I got the chance to respawn either...it was an 'almost dead' state.

After a while...I log back on...properly die in the lobby...and get raised in the city...at which time I run an equipment check...and keevan logged on with my chars brother...I explain the problem both ic and ooc of how there had been no motive other than they wanted my stuff...after a while of parlaying with them....we go to seek justice..unfortunatly the main culprit wasnt there...but we confronted the other two there....when accused...they did not deny...they merely said 'so?' or something along those lines...two seconds later...they were smited down by firebrand..(gotta love that spell) by Keevan..justice was done...and an end had been achieved...or so we thought.

We return to town to restock...and head back out when confronted by this group...again. The main problem( the druid) was present this time...and he appeared to be calling the shots...all the while...keevan was trying to reason with them...explain they have no business in kh without roleplaying...etc etc....when they attack again..We both escaped this time....and I logged off as I was getting rather sick of being griefed..

Keevan soon followed...we gave it a while...and then logged back on to find them gone....we plan to report it to the dm's.

Some people are assholes..

They did get it once....I used firebrand from a scroll so it was cast as level 15....so they each got hit for 15d6 points of damage and died in less time than it took me to type "Then die".....oh and I was invisible at the time too :)

hehe

Oh dont worry, with the amount of time I could spend online, should I choose to reinstall NWN(oh I will. I just need to get around to it) I could have a lvl 20 character before too long... and then, those pricks would die... Fear the wrath of my Wizard of the Red Robes... Nerodia Sipedon

Excellent....though if you want a good server to go to there's always Narfell...its a damn good RP server, its a low magic world which means when a mage starts to get up there he can rule the roost...its just hard to get there ;)

Anyway....I'm in a dragonlance mood so I'll off now and reread the twins series....

Makes me consider buying a legit copy of NWN.

BTW after reading this thread I reinstalled my copy of NeverWinter and downloaded the Shadowlords and Dreamcatcher modules. Pretty awesome modules, now I don't think NWN is so shitty now, just the single player campaign sucks ass.

Unlike Baldur's Gate, this game doesn't benefit from too many side quests - they only distract you and the modular nature is a pain, because you can't ever go back and finish those puzzles...

Couldn't have said it better. NWN is awesome because of all the amazing modules, but the single player campaign is a piece of shit. I was done after 30 minutes. Thankfully, there are enough truly superb modules to make your head spin.

Well, NWN isn't really a full MMORPG......

It's a roleplaying game that just happens to have a large online community and a very flexible multiplayer mode.

It has single player mode (granted it ain't as much fun as multi), and most importantly: it's not an MMORPG because there are no monthly fees.

Not MM, just M. The idea is that you set up a server and play with some friends (or strangers) just like Quake or any other multiplayer game. Some people have "persistent" worlds, which basically just means leaving the server up all day and people logging in and out, and the "level" doesn't ever get resetted, or something like that.
