I had to change my last e-mail address because I was getting tens or hundreds of spam messages a day, what can you do in that situation? for a while I sent E-mails to thier unsubscribe addresses, but they just kept coming, guess you have to be cautious who you give it to, if they give it to other spammers and they give it other spammers and soon your drowning in it. What about bloacking all mail that comes to that address, for a week or two so all the spam bounces back to them, then trying to use it again?

NEVER EVER DO THAT, in fact its likely why your getting so much spam. If you reply they know they have an active email account and why that company might not Spam you anymore, they will sell your address to countless others.

NEVER EVER respond to an unsubcribe message. All it does is confirm your email address as valid. The only exception is if your doing business with a reputable company.
Never post your email address on any website, discussion board, or registration card. Always use a dummy account just for spam and non personal transactions.
It helps not to put your email address in your browser to be harvested when you visit sites. This really applys to IE.

I accidently posted on usenet with my email address, and I'm getting flooded with 25 spams a day. Piping mail through bogofilter appears to be 99.0 percent effective, with zero false positives and the occasional false negative. I still make fetchyahoo download everything including bulk mail though in case of a false positive by Yahoo's spam filter. I've have 362 spams sitting in my spam folder in case someone needs some to train their spam filters.

I get so much spam from being too lazy to make another email account.. It's all my fault.
I suck.

Atleast my computer is virus + Spyware free now.
The only problem it has now is restarting whenever I listen to my music while shuffeling through other programs.

I've been using Spam Assassin lately and it's been very effective:

Spam Assassin is excellent - my university uses it and it catches a lot of spam.
Spam Gourmet lets you create disposable e-mail forwarding addresses so that if you have to input your e-mail address for something you don't get deluged with spam. It works somewhat like American Express's "disposable credit card number" system.
