From what I've read so far, it looks pretty cool.

It looks like a WCIII mod to be quite frank and is not in any way shape or form grabbing my attention.

Blech. We need more units onscreen. LOTR is EPIC! 50 units isn't EPIC, it's a SKIRMISH.

That's not a LOTR strategy game,
this is a LOTR strategy game!

I am disappointed by the graphics. Its hard to tell whats what, I think it should have a more AOE type look.

I'll wait until the Rome: Total War LOTR mod, thank you very fucking much. That's about the only engine I'd trust to do the series justice.
10,000 untis on screen, fully 3D, with seige weapons and scaled fortifications and cities.

Looks like they're going to ruin LOTR with this. I want my MASSIVE battles, Helms Deep, Pelennor Fields and Dagorlad.

I thought it was the Games Workshop one.

10K units still isn't enough

Ah, but the peak engagement of LOTR:TTT only involved about 10,000 Uruk-hai and a few hundred humans. So RTW is powerful enough to effective render it.

The Atlas of Middle Earth estimated some 2.7K human troops (of 3.2K total) defending against 10K+ attacking.

Is that with or without the mounted reinforcements?

With the reinforcements, but remember that the battle in the book went differently than that in the movie.

Of course.

Sorry, should be 10,000+ units, as is the info on RTW specs.
Still, that should be more than enough for most engagements, and even if it's not, reinforcements can make up for the numbers significantly above 10,000.

Now then, all we need is an engine that can handle the Seige of Minas Tirith.

Minas Tirith has nothing on Dagorlad.
(Dagorlad is the battle at the start of FOTR)
