Whenever I start a skirmish my entire side blows up after 15 seconds of game play regardless of what I do. Anyone else ever have this problem? I patched the game and I haven't a clue what to do.

You sure you don't have a pirate copy?

Quite sure. Untill two days ago I could never play my copy because of a 3d card problem. Now I have a new system and I was running it just fine except for the skirmish mode. I finaly got online last night and patched the game, and the problem persists.

Wait ... new machine? Have you changed your CD-ROM drive at all? This could be the game not detecting safedisc correctly.

Nope. Running both a 2 year old CD writer and 2 year old DVD drive.

Hrm....strange. It's a copy-protection mechanism, but I don't know why it's not working ...

Blowing me up after 15 seconds is copy protection? :?:

Alcohol 120% is your friend. :) Burn yourself another copy onto a CD-R and play to your heart's content. If it doesn't work, then atleast you get a coaster out of it.

You mean burn myself a copy from my legaly bought copy? I am tempted to try a reinstall first just to be safe.

Generals is just a fuck up rushed game. I bought it for my dad and he used to love it. Then i build myself a new PC and it's never worked since. 2200 fucking XP chip, 128mb GFX card, 1024 memory, 80 gig hardrive and i'm fucking under specs. FUCK YOU EA!!!

I'd start with a reinstall.

1.) A word to the wise, my burned copy of C&C:G (which I can't play at my home due to system requiremnts), when played on any other computer, lacks online play. I dunno if its just me or if this is some weird thing that always happens when you burn games. Unless you aren't interested in playing C&C:G online. Although you should, C&Cs are always better online.

2.) C&C:G sucks. Go get RA2. Run. :)

Safedisc protection is probably kicking in on your burned copy, Gnome.

Alyeska: Since RA2, one of the copy-protection mechanism was to kill all of your units shortly after gamestart.

Well I ended up using a no-cd hack to get the game to work on Skirmish. Of course the no-cd hack still requires a CD...

Most likely ANY cd will do, just as long there is a cd in the drive or at least this is the case with most no-cd hacks.

Well, one problem solved, another created. Now the fucking game won't play multi-player because of the hack.

Fucking EA and their piss poor programing. They should never have disbanded Westwood.
