Andermani Order of Battle

Sharnhorst SD (P) - 45 [B- 13, 21, 35 PT- 250]

The newest ship in the IAN fleet. It's some where between an Invictus and a Harrington. It has roughly half the internal missle tubes; the remaining space has been mostly turned over to point defense.

Seydiltz SD - 85 [B- 6, 9,10 PT- 91]

A lighter SD than normal and very much missles heavy. They've been kept upgraded with the latest compensators to enable them to maintain their accel advantage.

Derflinger SD - 76 [B-0]

An unconventional superdreadnought for most navies. She's a four decker giving her more missles tubes and energy mounts but at a cost of accel. A solid and reliable design she's designed for a heavy battle line slugging match. Lately they've been given an increasing amount of point defense.

Graf Zepplin CV - 21 [B- 7, 6, 18 PT- Uncertain]*

The IAN's new LAC carrier. The IAN has not embraced the CLAC concept as thoroughly as have the RMN and SKM. As a result they employ a more conservative LAC design using fusion power. So while the Graf Zepplin-class is based on a large SD hull her actualy combat power is only moderately increased over that of the RMN's Minotaur or the GSN's Covington.

Unnamed CV [?]

A possible design for BB sized carrier. It's designed to accompony battlecruiser centered forces deployed on raiding missions.

Siegfried DN - 31 [B-0]

A slightly missle heavy design but all in all a typical dreadnought.

Leipzig BC (P) - 189 [B-30,28, 51 PT- 310]

The first ever pod-battlecruiser. She retains an internal missle armament but slightly reduced in number in favor of point defense. She was actually the first class of pod ship laid down and has replaced the few battlecruisers the IAN possesed pre-war.

Königsberg CA - 164 [B-37, 26, 34 PT- 370]

The premier Andy heavy cruiser. She's the IAN's response to the Saganami and Alvarez class. Her design trades heavier guns and longer range missles for sheer numbers of batteries.

Zieten CA - 167 [B-12,4 PT- 190]

An aging but formidable design. Fast and heavily armed, they are the backbone of the IAN presence in Silesia.

Falke CL - 93 [B-29, 31, 61 PT- 240]

The newer of the IAN's cruiser designs. She's a relatively large ship for her rate and has a distinct missle bias. She's optimized for missle engagements and supporting the wall in said missle combat.

Freya CL - 114 [B-0]

An heavy weight design that is generally used in support of the battlecruiser forces of the IAN and as escort units. Fast, heavily armed but slightly weak in point defense.

Blitz CL - 120 [B-0]

A well balanced but aging design. She's the most common IAN cruiser thanks to the remarkable ease with which she is upgraded and the superior balance. An excellent patrol ship.

Spähkreuzer DD - 268 [B-35, 19 PT- open ended]

The workhorse of the IAN destroyers. She's an able ship for what ever might come her way.

Kondor DD - 72 [B-26, PT- open ended]

A fast patrol destroyer. She's heavily armed and has deep magazines mostly at an expense to crew comfort.

Emden DD - 209 [B-15 65PT- open ended]

The newest destroyer. She's got more than the average point defense. Meant primarily for escort duties.

Red
number resprensent second batch construction.

Yellow number is the third batch

Blue represents ships being built for the Asgard navy.

* The IAN believes that for now the CLAC and LAC are not a viable replacement for a proper podlaying wall of battle. So far the missle deck school has retained the upperhand in this.

Marina Estrella De Mazapan
(Star Navy of Mazapan)

Yaguara (SD)- 32

The Yaguara-class Superdreadnought is the largest vessel fielded by the MEM in their wave of new construction following the breakout of hostilities between Manticore and Haven. At 8.5 million tons, she is marginally larger than Manticoran vessels of the same type. Yaguara SDs have slightly greater energy firepower then Manticoran SDs, and the same missile armament.

Her electronics packages are Sollie in manufacture, and are comparable to upper-end Peep electronics.

Aguila (SD)- 6

The Aguila-class, a lighter superdreadnought with heavy missile armament, is an outdated design fielded prior to the Haven/Manticore war. The remaining six Aguilas are all being used as testbeds for the Mazapani multistage missile and pod projects.

Guerrero (DN)- 16

Guerrero DNs are outfitted with the latest Mazapani technology, and mount heavy missile armament for vessels their size. Smaller then Manticoran DNs, with lighter energy armament. Equipped with Sollie electronics.

Espado IV (BC)- 80

The Espado IV is the latest in a long line of battlecruiser designs, stretching back to the first wars between Mazapan and the Silesian Confederacy almost a century ago. The Espado has a heavy energy bias, and is more heavily shielded then most vessels of her size. She pays for this with low acceleration. Espados act in conjunction with the main Mazapan wall off battle, acting as pocket battleships and going for up-the-kilt shots on enemy walls.

Asesino III (BC)- 16

The Asesino is a raider craft, designed to operate alone or in a small squadron to attack enemy shipping. Asesinos are swift, well armed, and equipped with the finest stealth systems monet can buy. They are based on the simple doctorine that they can defeat anything they can't outrun.

The Mazapan government refuses to comment on allegations that it's Asesino fleet is responsible for the wave of pirate attacks in Silesian space.

Lanza II (CH)- 80

The Lanza II is a heavy cruiser with similar capabilities to the RMN's Star Knight.

Cuchillo II (CA)- 100

Cuchillo II cruisers are large escorts, designed to provide extra punch to an escort or raiding squadron. This older model mounts heavy missile armament and Sollie EW gear.

Halcon III (CL)- 20

A very fast attack cruiser with weak point defense and excellent missile armament. An older model that is used largely as a raider or a patrol craft.

Diablo II (CL)- 80

The latest Mazapani light cruiser design, well-rounded and durable. Designed more as an escort than as a patrol craft, trades storage space and magazine size for heavier armament and defenses.

Enjado Lobo (DD)- 160

A well-rounded, but unremarkable, escort destroyer. Often found patrolling the edges of Silesian space, or escorting Mazapani shipping through foreign territory.

Serpiente V (DD)- 40

The smaller cousin to the Asesino, the Serpiente is a fast, stealthy raiding destroyer, built more heavily than other vessels of her weight class.

Construction Capabilities:
The Mazapan system has five major spaceyards, two of which are civilian docks with slips for civilian freighters and smaller craft.

The MEM is currently in the middle of a major build-up, in response to the breakout of hostilities between Manticore and Haven. Two military spaceyards are operational, and a third is under construction.
One is the Herrero station, the MEM's capital ship building slot, with 20 slips for DN/SDs, and 30 slips for BCs. The second is Aztlana station, which has 100 escort-vessel slips.

Libertad station, with building slips for 30 of the wall, is 4/5s complete, and has 5 slips full.

DuQuesne SD 80 [B-0]

Old design, but still worth her tonage, she once was the backbone of the fleet.

Curie (SD) 62 [B-28]

A newer design, created in the war time, with advanced EW and ECM suites, and slightly more missiles than the DuQuesne and a half million tons again as heavy as the DuQuesne.

Dauphin (SD) 61 [B-19]

Slightly bigger than the DuQuesne, it leans more towards heavy energy engagements.

Sovereign of Space SD(P) - 155 [B 65, PT 250]

The first ever built SD(P) by Haven, and the backbone of the new opd-lying fleet.

Temeraire SD(P) 62 [B 128, B2 50, PT 350]

The successor of the Sovereign, it's the most powerful ship ever built by Haven.

Aviary CLAC - 51 [B 49, B2 10, PT 120]

The carriers of Haven's navy. Bigger than its Grayson or Mantie counterparts.

New Boston DN - 20 [B-0]

A light Dreadnought with only 6 million tons.

Rousseau DN 30 [B-0]

Heavier than the New Boston class, its designed as flagship in smaller fleets.

Triumphant BB - 110 [B-0]

The last remaining ships of the outdated class, but still useful for small system pickets.

Ctesiphon BC(P) 10 [B 10, B2 50, PT 150]

The newest design to come out of Bolthole, it is the first Haven-designed Battlecruiser to incorporate the pod-laying theme, massing just about the same as the Warlord. The broadside of th Ctesiphon has considerable less missile tubes than a Warlord, in order to get more, and heavier, energy armament into it.

Warlord BC - 40 [B-0]

The new main line BC of the Haven fleet. Bigger and a heavier throw weight than the Sultan.

Sultan BC 60 [B-0]

The old BC design, superseded by the Warlord.

Mars CA - 140 [B 20, B2 30 PT 200]

The newest CA for the Haven fleet, it was the first to incorporate Solarian Leage technology in impeller, EW, and compensator technology, making it a very deadly and powerful opponent.

Scimitar - 100 [B-0]

Older design, still widely in use. As all old designs, it received limited refit by SL tech, but only limited, unlike fresh designs, also a good half as heavy as the Mars class.

Brilliance CL - 170 [B 4, B2 40, PT 250]
Smaller than the Conqueror, but better suited for escort duties. Favours energy weapons.

Conqueror CL 155 [B 15, PT 200]

The heaviest CL, with the most punch.

Frigate CL 50 [B 20, PT 250]

As heavy as the Brilliance, but with a larger missile broadside than it.

Bastogne DD -330 [ongoing]

A light destroyer

City DD 310 [ongoing]

Heavier than the Bastogne, carrying more broadside.

LAC [ongoing]

ANd of course there's the "small fry", like mine layers, repair ships, et al.

I upped the smaller classes, because that if anything the Janacek administration would have concentrated on to keep commerce running smoothly.

Edited with revised information and new Folgers crystals

Edit: New classes under construction

San Martin class SD(very large, and missile heavy, not a pod design energy armament heavily reduced in favor of additional magazne space and point defense. Controversial design, believed to be forced on the government to maintain unity)

Aegis class BC(very classified)

Ogre class CLAC(SD sized)

Goblin class sublight frigate(40-50K tons)?

Edited yet again to reflect numbers under construction

and Edited once more with specifics. R&R standing for reactivation and refitting.

and Edited yet again once more with the new BB(P) class(does anyone even read these?) also upped the big CLAC class numbers

2B denotes new construction initiated a few months after start, and is red for ease of determination, additional construction will have bigger numbers and a new color for each simultaneous surge

Given diplomacy times, the DN refits should pretty much have concluded by now

Since this has become necessary:

Asgard Federation Navy

Thanks to the Asgard Federation's control of the second largest wormhole junction known they can afford to feild a formindable navy for a nation that only holds three systems. Their shipbuilding capacity though is understrength ang most of their wall of battle is actually foriegn built, purchased from either Anderman or League yards.

Adolphus SD (IAN Seydiltz SD) - 0 [B- 10]

A lighter SD than normal and very much missles heavy. They've upgraded with the latest compensators to enable them to maintain their accel advantage.

Invincible SD (SLN League SD) - 0 [Ordered - 25, PT 40]

7 megaton ship of the wall. A balanced design refitted with the latest ECM and sensors.

Odin SD (IAN Derflinger-class) - 18

A four decker giving her more missles tubes and energy mounts but at a cost of accel. A solid and reliable design she's designed for a heavy battle line slugging match. The Asgard have follwed the Andies and have been giving them an increasing amount of point defense.

Thor DN (IAN Siegfried-class) - 30

A slightly missle heavy design but all in all a typical dreadnought.

Beowulf BB - 4 [B- 20, ordered from Solly Yards]

A Solly built battleship on a rough parity with Haven's Triumphant-class. They're missle heavy like all battleships but mount a much better point defense, being built in Solly yards and not falling under the embargo.

Vasa CA - 102

An aging home built design that has been retained in service for it's formidable power. She's larger than the RMN's Saganamis and actually approaches the battlecruiser range. They are kept in modern fighting trim and are frequently used to show the flag.

Sabre CA -174

A newer heavy cruiser design that roughly echoes the Alvarez class in adopting heavier energy mounts at the expense of sheer numbers. She's a totally home built design but taking advantage of ECM and fire control systems built under license from the Solarians.

Lupine CL - 149

An older design of an large CL class. A balanced design over all.

Thorn DD - 205

A balanced DD design. They are frequently deployed as convoy escorts and anti-piracy vessels.

Bastagone FG - 60

A light destroyer design the Asgard orginally purchased under the Legislaturists. They have since been downgraded to Frigate status and have been left behind for technical improvements.

Grayson OrBat:

3 Benjamin the Great SD(B0)

60 Harrington SD(P)(B0)

12 Mackenzie class SD(P)(Invictus equivalents)(B12 2B20 PT100)

24 Covington class CLAC(B4 2B20 PT 80)

40 Courvousier 2 BC(P)(B20 2B40 PT160)

32 Courvousier 1 BC(B0)

0 Aegis class BC(2B40 PT 80)

130 Alvarez CA(B10 PT 180)

165 Bernard Yanakov class CL(B5 PT200)(made up because the Grayson CL class name hasn't been specified to the best of my knowledge. Missile heavy, very few energy mounts, but those are CA grade)

120 Samurai class DD(made up again, missile heavy)

4900 LAC(B400 2B3500 PT10000)

Grayson Production has slowed down of late, due to the fact that they have been reaching the limits of the fleet they can support out of their own resources, and the now-defunct High Ridge government had been no help whatsoever. Wall of battle currently located within the Grayson system, with the exception of the Protector's Own Squadron, currently on "Long-term Endurance Deep-Space Exercises"(yeah right). Lighter ships still pulling duty throughout Alliance space, although more of them are tasked to protecting the still expanding Grayson Merchant Marine than actual garrison duty, again, due to the High Ridge government.

New Builds are mostly funded by Manticoran Subsidies

Midgard Cluster Association

The Midgard Cluster is a highly industrialized conglomeration of 24 Planets in seventeen systems. It was colonized roughly a century after Manticore as a daughter colony of Asgard. A century later and it had outstripped it's parent by a large measure. After a short civil the Midgard Cluster had gained it's idependence. Since then it has grew enormously and has made itself into a major regional power.

They maintained close relations with the Asgard Federation and have warmed to the Andermani in the last few decades. It's the most important power in it's stellar neighborhood.

Midgard Cluster Navy

85 - Midgard-class superdreadnaught: The principle dreadnaught of the Pheonix Navy. They're a heavy three deck design. They follow the traditional balance of energy weapons, missles and point defense. All units of the class have the latest in Solarian ECM and senors.

28 - Defiance-class superdreanaught: An older, lighter design of which the surviving ships have been heavily upgraded.

73 - Gladius-class dreadnaught: A common heavy dreadnaught design.

126 - Javelin-class battleship: A Solly built battleship on a rough parity with Haven's Triumphant-class. They're missle heavy like all battleships but mount a much better point defense, being built in Solly yards and not falling under the embargo. Roughly similar to Asgard's Beowulf class.

317 - Agrippa-class heavy cruisers: A potent class of heavy crusiers. They mount a fairly heavy missle broadside and have a sosphisticated point defense system.

212 - Excalibur-class light cruisers: The common patrol and escort ships of the Pheonix Navy. They're a balanced design though with a notoriously small magazine.

386 - Crusader-class destroyers: A fast, heavly armed destroyer.

System Defences:

Fixed Installations:‡

Warrior Battle Station: ?

Light Fort, between a BB and a DN in tonnage.

Starfort Fortress: ?

Heavy Fortress, Double an SD in tonnage (From OBS, the smallest Mantie forts were 16 megatons) with a greater weapons to mass ratio.

Heroic Storehouses: Numerous, especially on frontiers

While these fortresses mass more than a SD, their armament is only equivalant to a BC, instead they generate income by leasing space to trade cartels, as they provide relative safety from pirates, although not from a determined hostile government.

Systems will be allocated these depending on their importance, both politically and strategically. The solar system would have up to 50 forts and no storehouses (No rightminded brigand would raid it, it'd be like trying to raid early C19th London.) At least twenty of them would be orbiting Old Terra/Earth itself. Sigma Draconis would have a number around 20 Warriors and 6 Starforts, in addition to 5 Heroics.

Remote Laser Platforms: Hundreds of thousands throughout the league.

'Old-fashioned, bomb-pumped laser satellites.' Stored inactive and mostly aboard ships and fortresses.

Mobile Assets
*

[Notes]

*In order to protect the territory of the Solarian League from piracy, at any one time, a percentage of the fleet is engaged in anti piracy operations. These ships are effectively independant of the Active fleet, and form 'Standard Anti Piracy Taskforces' although in the event of war, many would be transferred to the Active Fleet structure, however doing so would cause economic problems. The number of vessels of each class required for this duty is indicated by a second number after the total of the class, the number is in parentheses like so {xx}

†I get the image of the mothballed ships grouped in deep space installations, much like the Culture's Pittance Ship Store in Excession.

Mesan Order of Battle

Posted: 2003-09-18 09:03am
by consequences
Ah, the fun of designing the navy I'm going to destroy, here goes:
Mesa doesn't feel the need for much of a true wall of battle, having always relied upon League protection until recently. They are currently desperately trying to improve their main fleet by every possible means. Their fleet is larger than might be suspected from outward appearance, due to minimal combat losses over a period of generations, and a tendency to keep old hulls in service long past their prime.

SD:

12 Superdreadnought class, purchased from League mothballs a long time ago, and haphazardly updated since

8 Devestator Class, purchased a few decades ago, and kept much more up to date (Manticore pre war approximately)

DN:

8 Lightning Class, purchased back when SD first entered production

BB:
60 Triumph Class , purchased for system security, and to free up greater forces for 'independent action'(read piracy), kept reasonably current.

BC:

120 Latin Class kept as up to date as reasonable on such outdated hulls.

CA:

60 Gladiator Class, one of the latest, most modern cruiser designs being produced for System Defense Fleets by one of the League's major shipbuilders, 420 Ktons.

180 Trade Class

140 Capital Class

CL

336 Duty Class
