Anyone know any good guestbook programs?

Have been debating setting up a guestbook for the site, would be nice to get feedback etc, but the first 10 sites I found all either had major advertising or had things which would look out of place with the decor.
If anyone knows any good sites for this sort of thing, then that would be helpful.
I need something without any 'buttons' (oooh, spot the techie...), without any advert bars or images, and it needs to be extremely customisable, oh and non-obtrusive advertising for the place where I get it would be ok. Is it a complicated bit of coding? I have a mate who can do a bit of php and is generally pretty good at most web type stuff, are guestbooks easy to create from scratch as applets etc?
