Network Traffic Question

Post by beyond hope »

I've been watching my event list while I've been on messenger out of morbid curiosity about this worm, and as I expected I've seen a whole lot of RPC probes. I was curious about one minor detail: most often they're TCP probes but every once in a while I see a UDP probe instead. What's the difference?

TCP is for sessions when you want to be sure that the information is trnsmitted without loss. Webpages,FTP transactions.

UDP is used when speed is more inportant. Most onlinegames like RPG's like evercrack and shoot em ups like Counter-Strike uses this.

"Either God wants to abolish evil, and cannot; or he can, but does not want to. ... If he wants to, but cannot, he is impotent. If he can, but does not want to, he is wicked. ... If, as they say, God can abolish evil, and God really wants to do it, why is there evil in the world?" -Epicurus

Fear is the mother of all gods.

Nature does all things spontaneously, by herself, without the meddling of the gods. -Lucretius
