The Austrian Empire(EU2!)

So I've built up a nice, substanial empire by the early 1460's. I've acquired, through wars, diploannexations, and keeping what I started out with:
Ostmarch
Austria
Steiermark
Istria
Krain
Tirol
Bayern
Baden
Strassburg
Ansbach
I've also vassalized Helvetia and the Palatinate, and I have excellant relations with both of them(but not high enough to diploannex the Palatinate). I also have an alliance w/ Helvetia, Saxony, Cologne, and a two-province Salzburg, and excellant relations with the other principalities. I have a very low BB(respectible reputaton).
Since I'm playing with the AGC, I don't think I'll inherit Hungary unless the Turks conquer Magyar and Hungary chooses to elect a Hapsburg king- and, given the ass-stomping the Ottomans have recieved, that is highly unlikely. Bohemia has held onto all of her posssesions, so I'll likely be able to inherit her intact. Burgundy has been wiped off the map by France.
Where should I go next? I'm planning on vassalizing Salzburg, and then diploannexing it and the Palatinate, but after that, where too?

Oh, I also got Wurttenburg.

You'll be able to diploannex the entire HRE, most likely, as long as you keep your BB points down. That's a shame that Burgundy was wiped out; in a game I played as Bavaria, Burgundy grew to its historic size and was quite a powerful country but as France organized itself, she was torn apart. It put a crimp in my plans to gradually wipe out Austria before they inhereted Bohemia. Its last territories, other than Burgundy, were eaten up by the Swiss.
You might be able to engineer the Turks into taking the prerequisite provinces if you try hard enough. For now, focus on improving relations with HRE members and gobbling up non Turkish/Hungarian Balkan territory. Be sure to crush the Venetians, too. Watch out for Poland, smack that biach up.
And the Swiss will always hate you. Always.

Well, I don't have Slavonic culture yet(I don't know whether Austria gets it in the AGC), so the Sunni Balkans may have to wait a bit.
Good idea with the diploannexation of HRE, but I keep getting hit with obsessive and paranoid monarchs. Dammit.
And you'd think the Swiss would hate me, but relations have been 175+ ever since I released them from captivity.
Venetians are starting to worry me...they're on the verge of diploannexing a two-province Ragusa and they keep competing me out of Veneto's CoT. I suppose I'll go pound on them for a while.

Hate to hijack a thread but why start another EU thread for a simple question? I bought the Kingdoms of the North game which bundles EU II with it, I actually brought it to get the EU II game. Problem is that when I start EU II the opening screen just turns black and nothing happens. I've tried several things, like changing the compatibiloty mode to Windows 2000 (I run XP) but nothing, yet the Kingdoms of the North expansion runs perfectly on my machine. Any clues as to what I can do? I vaguely remember running into this problem when I first got HOI but can't remember the solution.
Any help would be apprecaited as I am eager to conquer the world or at the very least run a kingdom.

1) They made the Balkans Sunni?
2) Yeah, they'll get it in the end, though. Only focus hard on bordering nations and keep the other ones simply happy so they don't hate you once you start annexing.
3) Weird, ok then. It'll change with Reformed.
You'll also have the problem of switching between Protestant and Catholic as your lands will be virtually divided down the middle.
4) Yeah, beat the crap out of them. They make too much money to be left alone. There's also extremely hard to annex, hope the Turks get a good navy.
EDIT: Sorry, can't help you there, Stravo.

This is not uncommon. With their culture and core provinces bonuses, the Ottomans are running at about 50-60% success rate for most of the Balkans.

Well, not the *whole* Balkans. Just Bulgaria, Rumelia, Macedonia, and Kosovo.
Venice diploannexed Ragusa, gaining the provinces of Ragusa and Albania. I would stomp them ASAP, but they outnumber my army 3:1.

I've diploannexed the Palatinat(finally) and vassalized Salzburg and Saxony. Going to wait twenty years and then try to annex them.
BTW, when does Austria get cores on the Dutch provinces? France has taken three of them.
Venice is getting scary; they've diploannexed Athens. But I can't get a casus bell on them; the minute I do, they're dead.

Europa Universalis II. It's a strategic game that allows you to play as one of many, many countries in the time period from 1419-1819. There's a number of scenarios, and the game is easily modified, so there's a number of mods that improve both it's historical accuracy, playability, and add more historical events.
