For the life of me, I can't figure this one out

How do you take a screenshot in Linux when you're in XFree86?

Did'nt I see a screenshot of you linux desktop before?

Anyways, you fire up gimp or some other graphics program, and there's usually an option to acquire a screen shot. Under gimp, it's in the toolbox->acquire->screenshot.

Or you can open a terminal, type xwd>filename.xwd (MUST DO THIS, otherwise output will be dumped to stdout), then use a converter to extract a PNG. Clicking the background gives you the whole screen. I think you would want to use alt-tab to get the appropriate window in the foreground, do not know if available in XFCE. Best way obviously is to use GIMP.
