EUII

I just got Europa Universalis II today. It's pretty kickass, and I'm bound to have a lot of fun with it.

One thing I want to know right off the bat is, are there any mods that change the 3D figures into 2D counters, like in HoI? Seeing all those little guys walking around is pissing me off.

FUCK! I was having fun with my first game, carving out a little empire for myself as the Iroquois, when the game suddenly fucking crashed. God DAMN it.

No.

Make sure you patch up to 1.07. But not the betas! Protest the raping of inflation and wartaxes!

Also, there's a couple of mods out there that add new events and improve historical accuracy; AGC, EEP, etc.

If you like it, I started a thread about an SD.net multiplayer EUII game...once a week, 'bout an hour or two. Thread's somewhere down the page, not enough players at the moment.

Oh, and watch out for the fucking Dutch.

Hehehe, Dutch. For some reason, should you survive that long with Burgundy, you also get their violent revolts despite having Dutch culture... :wtf:

If you want some happy go lucky revolts play the Timurid Empire 1419, Ak Koyunlu 1492, Golden Horde 1419 and 1492, and China 1600s. :D I know you already felt the joy of Chinese revolts, Hemlock.

JOIN THAT MP GAME, BIACH!

Yeah, I was playing with 1.07 when it crashed. It hasn't done that since; I think the problem may have been one of memory.

Anyways, I'll look into joining your multiplayer game, but first I'm going to hone my skills.

Paradox games have a lot running under the hood, and sometimes things go wrong. Another thing you have to watch out for is the AI taking a "nap."

So far I have yet to encounter the napping AI, they just love attacking my beautiful Russian Empire.

I do find it odd that France was able to diploannex Milan, Venice (Circa 1492 Venice!), Navarra, Savoy, Genoa, a 5-province Bavaria, and a 5-province Tuscany (Tuscany, Siena, 2 Papal State territories) while reannexing Milan and Modena a few times and only losing a one province Savoy and Cyprus to revolts, though. :wtf: Savoy escaped with losing their entire treasury and a vassalship while France only had the energy to attack Cyprus once with an army that failed to stay coherent enough for an island siege. They did lose Venice's Adriatic territory, though, through defections.

Their combined Franco-Genoan-Venetian fleet is huge.

EDIT: What about you, Pablo? Interested in the possible game?

A proper game of EUII is a beautiful thing. 1735, and as Austria I've annexed the Iroquis, the Cherokee, and built up a few colonies in the New World. I own all of the HRE except for Hessen and Helvetia, plus a few Polish and Hungarian territories.

France, however, is fucking huge. They own, obviously, all of France, parts of Italy, the Crimea, part of the Balkans, Savoy, Flandern, a number of New World provinces, Genoa, and Corsica.

Of course, the War of Spanish Succession was their downfall. They're my vassals and will hopefully be diploannexed by the endgame. But they've vassalized Spain(obviously) and *Poland*, which has been raped so many times I'm surprised it's still around.

Other weird things in my current game:

A Protestant Lenape

Enormous Persian Empire(3/4 the former Timurid Empire, the Levant, part of Asia minor) and an enormous Mughal Empire(Most of India, a big chunk of the Khanates, plus 1/4 Timurid Empire) duking it out

A Portuegese-owned Trabzond

French Crimea

5-province Roman Empire

Lithuania owns a chunk of land, just north of Norway. I have no idea how they managed that.

It's usually unfortified, so they probably siezed it by marching there and got it in the typically bizarre peace settlements which the AI's are fond of tossing around.

*cough cough*

*Points at "edit" in previous post* ;)

And for Hemlock, the not quite city provinces of Scandinavia:

Sweden:
Lappland

Denmark:
Narvik
Finnmark

Russia:
Kola
Karelia
Arkhangelsk (close enough)

Their cultural and religious allegiances are in a limbo as they are all under 700 pop (vanilla 1.07 threshold). However, as Denmark or Sweden, you don't want to bring them up until after the Reformation or you're stuck with nasty Papist provinces. You don't want Papists, do you? ;) Russia's fine, go ahead and colonize (before some dirty Swede comes and steals them).

Maybe you might have time a single night and can pick up some random nation, perhaps? :)

Hey, I was messing around with the scenario editor, and the countries I make don't do anything. I opened up some of the existing scenarios, and modeled my countries exactly like them, and nothing happens. When I run the scenario, the countries which were premade run along just fine, while the ones I created just sit there. What the fuck.

No AI files, I think.

Yeah, you need to make AI files. You should also give them some events, monarchs, and leaders, which isn't difficult, since it's all text files.

Aha. I'll get right on that.
