Remote Process Call (RPC) Terminations...

Post by Kazuaki Shimazaki »

Today, my family finally had a (long overdue) revolution in computer communications. I dumped my 56K dial up and went Broadband.

My computer's internal wireless LAN (connects to this hub which then goes out to my broadband ISP) is so far flawlessly taking me to websites. The downloads are going much better than before.

My mom's computer (an older NEC) is not doing so well with its PCI card add-on wireless LAN sysem. She goes on the Internet. Within 10 minutes of surfing, the computer spits something about the RPC suddenly terminating, then says she has sixty seconds to prepare for a restart.

What gives? Is it a compatibility problem? Possible solutions? Thank you again.

This has been discussed before. It is a virus. Go to www.symantec.com and download "fixblast.exe" And then update your antivirus definitions.

"Either God wants to abolish evil, and cannot; or he can, but does not want to. ... If he wants to, but cannot, he is impotent. If he can, but does not want to, he is wicked. ... If, as they say, God can abolish evil, and God really wants to do it, why is there evil in the world?" -Epicurus

No its not, its a WORM. There is a big difference between the two. Virii propogate on their own. Worms require user intervention to spread.

Wrong away around. Worms spread under their own power, Viruses have to have the host propagarte themselves.
