Writing your own drivers?

Post by Shrykull »

I have an HP PSC and it's now "obselete" that is, they don't provide support for it, and they told me the drivers they have can only restore a few of it's functions in windows XP but not all of them, just what would you need to write your own if you could, you'd have to have a way for it to interface with the software BIOS and OS, but I'm wondering if there's something I lack which will prevent me from doing it, HP won't provide new drivers for it.

You would need to know the hardware specifications and I/O methods to access it. Such information may not be public, and it takes a good deal of skill to reverse-engineer it on your own.

You could attempt to decompile the old drivers and take a look as well.
