the main problem with emulator sites for consoles for example is they send you in circles. like LINK REMOVED are there any sites where they have legal downloads of roms that you pay for, like the new napster, etc, where they don't have the hide what they're doing? Thought of this when I saw the DOSbox emulator.

The only 'legal' ROMs are the ones either coded as demos by bedroom coders, or the ones released unfinished as curiosities because they switched system, or were canned. Everything else is copyright infringement.
You can find them at www.zophar.net, along with pretty much every emulator ever (and no infringing content)

You heard wrong. Sites have taken down Japanese Sailor Moon SNES games because of Nintendo's typical excuses. The companies aren't making a dime off these games, and in many cases, havn't in over 12 years. Unless they start reproduction of the consoles and game catridges, they only have a nitpicky legal case, not a moral one.

Nintendo and Sony (and most software developers that hold the copyrights) should release more classic game set titles (not like those dumb Atari or Namco arcade sets, but more things like the Sonic Mega Collection for GameCube).
If so many people are willing to download ROMs for old games, I bet that most of them would be willing to buy rereleases of them...

One can probably justify downloading emulated games for ones they already own on console. While it could be argued it prevents the company from releasing on a new system, there is also the fact that people who own the game should be able to have alternate copies for private use. I could see a court case on this issue going either way.
