Goddamned Sister...
I need some major help here...
My sister installed a whole bunch of shit, like Kazaa, Bargain Buddy, some eXact thingy, Lycos SideSearch, etc...
I tried to uninstall all of that through Add/Remove Programs, got somewhat close to it, but some of it just refused to uninstall. So, I manually deleted this crap (probably a bad move).
Nah, I have random pop up ads (just got one now...ARGH!), my internet connection insists on starting up when I come on (login screen comes up, and I have to close it about seven times before it goes away), and now I can't even get my taskbar to show itself anymore!
Is there anything I can do?

Make a new account. That should solve some problems.

I ran Spybot SD, think I got rid of most of it, but my computer is still running slow as all Hell.
My little taskbar doohicky with the clock in it is refusing to show itself...but I think the ads are gone. *whew*

Something is still in there eating up your computers processing power.RogueIce wrote:I ran Spybot SD, think I got rid of most of it, but my computer is still running slow as all Hell.

And if Kazaa was there, others might be using your ip to bounce traffic through.
Use Kazaa light instead and turn off the supernode usage.

I don't use Kazaa, it was my sister.
And I figured out the taskbar thing. It was Msn6, or something, not loading or responding. I Ctrl-Alt-Delete, End Task it, and it goes away, and the task bar works again.
I lose the MSN Butterfly symbol down there, but if that's the sacrifice I must make, then I do so willingly.
SDNet still wants to load up a little slow, but it's not too bad. I'm gonna try surfing around to random sites, to see if it's more or less up to speed as a whole and if it's just SDNet being pissy on me.

Nevertheless, switch from Kazaa to Kazaa Lite. It is a lot better and no spyware.RogueIce wrote:I don't use Kazaa, it was my sister.

Also go through msconfig and uncheck programs that you don't want to load upon start up.
