Like 1/4 of all NS servers are clan pub servers

1) Clanners almost always stack to one team
1a) 99% of them have voice comms
1b) They have weekly scrims, so there is a coordination advantage

2) Clanners cover their fellow members' asses when something goes down
2a) Over half of all pubbers and clanners use ex_interp exploit as marine, and play dumb when you call them out on it
2a1)Complain, and they deny deny deny
2b) If you have a cheating clan member on the server, don't dare accuse him or you'll be permabanned on the spot
2c)The clan that plays together, hacks together

3) Reserved slots
3a) 1 slot is fine for admin, more are never necessary
3b) If you want to reserve 6 fucking slots THEN PUT A PASSWORD ON YOUR SERVER YOU SCAT FETISHISTS
3c) New trend is offering reserved slots to pubbers and regulars for a monthly fee
3c1) This only encourages brats to waste their allowance money on a fucking FREE MOD
3c2) Those that cough up the fee are usually given admin rights, such as banning, ejecting from comm chair, and llama/slap

Ideally, clanners on a sever should split themselves along the two teams, this is true, but often they want to have full-game practice sessions, where they learn to operate as a team. In any event, if the server is owned by the clan, it's their business.

Okay, now I know you're spouting bullshit. I play on Voogru's servers a LOT. I don't donate, but yet I still have a good time. And I can tell you RIGHT NOW that donators do NOT get admin privlidges, and you are pulling this out of your ass. There are only a handful of admins, and their actions are scruntinized by the community that plays there. There also isn't any one clan that plays at voogru, but rather several.

Actually, Cheating in FPS is almost a national past time. Lots of people do it, and you do get banned for pointing it out. One example of a game such as that is Aliens vs predator II. Cloaked preds standing still from all the way across the map getting sniped in the head with a rifle. Its not possible if you are in the middle of nowhere and not moving.

People tend to do a few other tricks in order to cheat as well.

Clans that i have seen don't help, because the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. When weird shit happens, and they all laugh, its usuall some big cheating.

Also, when the "clan" tells you waht weapons you can and cannot use, and then they turn around and use the same shit on you....that says what clans are about. They win because they fix it so they do. If they didnt have their "rules" as they put it, they lose.

Bullshit admins are what drove me to hating clans even back in the JK1 days. It's nothing new, you just have to find a good server. I spend 99% of my NS time of the Deadclan server and these guys don't fuck around like some other krated clans. Texas HK is also another good example as is Evil clan public.

Remember, the Half-life engine is so dated that almost any jack-off with an Internet connection can play it. It doesn't require any kind of dedicated gamer/great hardware to play.

I've never had much trouble with Quake clans in the OSP (www.orangesmoothie.org yeah I thought 'wtf' too) Instagib and CTF scenes. I've had absolutely nothing but good experiences with members of <-gLu->, [NAD], [ZPG], RoS, and =FoC= while playing OSP CTF/iCTF. Most of these guys also populate the Freeze Tag and UFreeze serverz too, so they're hella kewl. QPong: Expect to play with the likes of Pappy-R, Hellchick, IceStorm (he likes playing at <-gLu->). Watch your balls tho. Rocket Arena? Pfeh, Fuck them, I don't know anyone on RA3 anymore, plus they're all rude ego trippers. Nothing else remarkable about it. If you don't mind all the LPBs with their 10 ping lightning guns and swingin em around like the way they pee right after sex, killing you within half a second of contact, then by all means hop in! If this aint your idea of phun, try Vanilla Q3. N00bZ Ahoy! Easy frags, especially if you're a Railer like me...

Meanwhile, I often get accused of cheating in many games that I play. JK1, JK2, NS, T2, and so on. People get owned so badly they can't imagine any other possibility than that the other person HAD to be cheating. Since people in clans tend to dedicate a fair amount of time towards improving their skills in a given game, of COURSE they are going to completely own somebody who only plays occasionally. It's like having a couch potato who plays catch with his kid on the weekends facing down the local minor league team, having only other couch potato dads (with maybe a few minor league players) on his team.

I have had people quit servers screaming "U FUKING CHEATER" because I was dominating the server. Do I cheat? No. They just sucked. For whatever reason, they sucked. Maybe it was that they relied on a single method for kills (grip dropping, for example), which I adapted to. Maybe it was that they couldn't aim, or didn't have their force powers bound to useful hotkeys for quick use. Or maybe they were so reliant on saber combat that they couldn't adequately defend against weapons used intelligently. In the end, it didn't matter. I killed them more often than they killed me, so obviously I'm a fucking cheater. Right. I wasn't even in a clan for JK2: JO, and I managed to get more than a fair amount of crap like this directed at me. Imagine if I had been a member of a clan, constantly practicing with other people of around my skill level to improve my online skills. Imagine if a clanmate and I joined the same server and (gasp) joined the same team. The cries of "OMG U FUKING CHEATERZ" would resonate throughout the servers.

It's a fucking unfair stereotype to call clanners cheaters. Some clans do cheat, this is true, but you can usually avoid those fuckwits. After all, they tend to advertise themselves pretty well. I've had plenty of clan-related experiences in which cheating was never a real issue. The biggest problems I've ever had with clans is the fucked up social structure some of them seem to form after a while. You usually have the "core" members, who are in charge, then the unwashed masses that flock to them for whatever reason. Then starts the backstabbing, the bullshit, the sycophants, and so on. Eventually, the people who were originally in charge get bored or move on, and the clan either fragments or is twisted into some freakish perversion of what it originally was.

By far, the best thing to do is just get a bunch of like-minded people together and form a "clan" with no real rules, just having fun, but I digress.

Most HK members used flashlight bldg exploit back in the day, so I wasn't quite endeared to them. The server is ok though

Most Firearms clans are okay.

I love my local CS clans. I love them all. Well, mostly....

I understand where you were coming from Hamel, but that isn't the case in most CS servers I play on.
