Well, I just bought FFVI - Grand Finale, FFVII - Reunion, and FFVII - Original Sound Track from GameMusic.com. It cost me $100.97 to get them all (FF7OST is three CD, the others are one CD).

Do you think it was worth it?

I dunno.

RPG music is usually a series of eventually grating loops played ad nauseam with only one or two memorable tracks.

(But what do I know, I just ordered the soundtrack to Jet Set Radio)

It's worth it only if it's the symphonic version. If not, you could extract the music from the games themselves easily.

I'd say most of the ff7 music is worth it....the final 'One winged angel' track when you fight safer sephiroth...is nothing short of amazing if you like that sort of thing

Yeah, those are good ones. Course, I haven't paid for an FF CD in years because I'm a cheap bastard. I have hundreds of MP3s, though.

I've spent nearly $200 in the past year buying video game soundtracks.

I've got the scores to:

Ace Combat 4 (2CD score)
Final Fantasy X (4CD score)
Metal Gear Solid 2 (both the initial score CD with Gregson-Williams tracks and the second CD with the secondary composer's tracks)
Kingdom Hearts (2CD score)

All but the last one were bought from GameMusic.com (I got the KH score via eBay).

So I'd say that a hundred backs isn't too bad for what you got. :)

I just got the Panzer Dragoon Orta OST and the Chrono Cross OST and so far they have been great. Game music isn't exactly the stuff you can listen to all the time, but when doing homework or such it makes a good ambiance music.

I don't think I would ever invest in the full OST's of the Final Fantasies, but usually they release a one disc composers choice or remixes that are usually worth it. Also the Final Fantasy N/S Generation CD's are great and don't cost much either.

I'll be joining you.

As I have the vocal tracks from the last few FF games.

I have two game soundtracks I paid money for, Jet Set Radio and Rez, and three that came free, Metal Gear Solid, Lunar, and Lunar 2.

Oh, and the second CD from No-one lives forever as well.

My next trip to Sakura-con, I'm planning on spending big on the game music. It's about time, too, since I've got 33 Final Fantasy soundtracks and 11 other Square game soundtracks (plus one single) on my HDD.
