Trillian WON'T STOP CRASHING!!!

Today when I hopped on and started Trillian, I noticed it wouldn't connect to Yahoo. It said something about invalid password. BULLSHIT. So I go into the connection manager and see everything was exactly the way it was originally. So I back out of that, and Trillian crashes. And crashes again when I restart it. And again, even after a reboot. Long story short, Trillian doesn't work anymore. Needless to say, I'm pissed off quite extremely.
BTW is there any way to permanently disable that stupid drwtsn32.exe thing that keeps a crashed program in memory for excessively long times and won't let me restart said crashed program until it's done whatever it is that it does?

Disable your Doctor Watson utility?
Other than that, check out trillian's website and check for patches.

Nope. NT-based OSes by default will attempt to write debug information so it can be sent back to the developer.

Thanks Hotfoot. I installed their 'patch E' despite the fact I already HAD patch E installed, and that fixed it. I still can't connect to Yahoo, so apparently it looks like YaHELL decided to implement some changes to their IM protocol other than the ones they warned everyone about. Figgers...

I think Yahoo's been under some sort of Denial of Service attack recently or something, I've heard that even normal YIM! users couldn't log on...

I think so too. Yahoo Mail occasionally gets extremely slow too. Here's hoping Yahoo catches the little fuckers DoSing them and lives up to their YaHell nickname on the skript-kiddiots' asses!

Nope. Completely wrong.

Yahoo! has now disabled Trillian's access to YIM, as well as all other 3rd-party programs trying to access YIM. So, even with the correct password and username, unless Trillian has released a new update or workaround (which I doubt), you can't use it anymore.

THOSE STUPID FUCKERS!!!
And what they did COMPLETELY CRASHES TRILLIAN!! I'd construe that as Denial of Service, and I think a Jury would as well...

It is not a DOS attack. Try again. Furthermore, that would have to be the most incompetent legal defense team in the world to have the jury render a 'guilty' verdict.
Yahoo is under
absolutely no obligation to allow third-party clients onto their system, a system
that Yahoo pays for.

Ah, point.
BTW is there a way to disable the debugger in Win2K? Umm, nevermind. Google is my friend once again: Found this little tip...
article at www.winnetmag.com wrote:If you want to disable Dr. Watson, simply delete KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug
Thanks Google!

Thank's guys for the fucking anti-crashing device, I'm now rather irate. This patch idea had better work.

I've had the same crash problems with YIM under Trillian too. AOL tried to do this a while back. It was funny watching Trillian release new patches to undo the protocol changes AOL made to AIM

Oh no, now you'll have to use the programme the service is intended for...

OK, got it working again, I'd like to thank the poeple here for their help.
YT30000, may you go to hell.

The reason I never used Yahoo! Messenger before is because they NEVER UPDATED THE FUCKING UNIX VERSION!
At least they have a version now that uses GTK2 widgets and displays the fonts at the proper size, but still, I hate having to run more than one client at once.

I remember hearing about that. That was right before I got Trillian too. AOL lost that battle, and I'm sure YaHELL will lose this one too.

Ya welkum.

Seconded. And besides, don't Aerius and Jmac have copyright on that line anyway?

To Gandalf: Already here.
To Einhander: I'd pay them to use it.
