Good laptops?

Anyone know of some pretty good laptops that are useable, up to date, realiable, and not too outragously priced? I'm sick of using my sister's, and I want one of my own, especially since my desktop is still, for all intents and purposes, dead, until I can find a Win98 CD that's in hiding at the moment it would seem.

IBM's eBay Store usually has some good deals if you want the ThinkPad quality.
Otherwise, search around, all the other manufactuers usually just rebrand something from Sager or Clevo.
Do try to get a wireless card. They are very useful for when you need to do research @ USF - you can head into the library w/ your laptop and type a paper w/o checking out books and such.

'Wireless' is exactly that, right? Broadband internet with absolutely no other objects necessary?

Hey, it even works in certain rooms of the HMS building, provided nobody uses a cell phone.

Not neccessarily. In this case it's a radio (microwave-band) connection to the school's LAN - and from there to the Internet, of course.
There are other ways, such as GPRS, for wireless high-speed internet access.
