Missing sites...

Something is weird about my internet connection or maybe it's IE just being a bitch but every time I try to get to this site, I type in b-b-s-.-s-t-a-r etc and hit enter. And then some weird Veri-Sign-what-ever-site comes up saying "Sorry, that page doesn't exist". Oh, it doesn't exist? Well how come I can connect to the site via the link on the sd.net main page?

It's the same thing when I try to connect to a certain community. It takes forever to load and the MSN search site comes up saying "that page doesn't exist" and then a link to the very adress I typed in the adress field. Exactly the same and when I click it, it usually works  . Couldn't they just fucking send me there directly instead of showing me that fucking MSN shit?! Maybe it's because there's FOUR links to one MSN Messenger site under the link to the community. Fucking MicroSoft trying to be everywhere and own everything.

Try going to Google. If you get a message "ARE YOU TRYING TO GET TO GOOGLE.COM?"
You have a CWS spyware. there's a thread above about it. Also, run spybot or adaware, or both. That may do it.

No Google always works fine, there's just sometimes I've got the infamous 404 error message, but I've never been redirected anywhere or anything.

You're probably misspelling something. VeriSign, who operates the root DNS servers for the United States, has decided in their infinate wisdom that any request for a nonexistant domain name should be redirected to their search system rather than an error message being sent.

Occasionally IE will timeout, so just retry going to that site.

I see. An error message would probably catch one's attention better, I think...

And now I've found the problem: sometime I must have spelled it "bbs.stardestoyer.net" (notice the lack of an r) and I have tried to go to that site ever since. Noob-problem, I know, but I guess it can happen to anyone

Feel free to lock this thread or something now that the problem is solved.
