So i decide to play startrek armada II. Just one game on the net. I make a server 'cause i don't like the ones running at the moment. A person joins and says that there a n00b and i should go easy on them. So i say that we'll do a team game and they can be allied with me. That was my first mistake. My second was assuming that they knew the basic principals of the game and wouldn't need to be guided around by the hand. Boy was i wrong. I saw a disturbing lack of devolpement in their base, i had it set to free tech because i didn't feel like going through the tech tree today and by 5 minutes into the game they, playing as species, hadn't even gotten a portal opened up. I was just considering telling them what to do when a massive wave of neg'vahrs crashes over my defenses. No problem i'm about to get a tactical fusion cube i'll be fine. I wasn't. They broke through my base and killed a tactical cube as they were warping out for more space. In the chaos they killed most of my base before i could get my cubes turned around. I repulsed them only to see the tatered fleet head twoards the nonexistant base of the n00b now long since quit and replaced by AI. They decimated the place and turned to what was left of my gaurd stations. Then they hunted every last one of my ships killing me completely off. So the moral of the story is never help a n00b because they will probalby be too stupid to freaking build an advanced ship yard, contribute nothing to the defese of the portal into your base and just be lazy and stupid all around.

This wouldv'e probably been better off in venting, though. But we've all had our run-ins with n00bs and the like. Personally, I make two distinctions - a n00b is someone who is, well, new. They need to learn the game and may not have a very good feel for it. They will learn in time, and eventually become productive members of the online community.

Then there's idiots. They're usually assholes, prove to be very resistant to learning, and lack common sense in general. Funnily enough, they're often fluent in moronspeak and seem to have forgotten their English (or never learned it in the first place). If these fucktards ever do manage to learn the game, then they become the "ub3r1337 d00dz taht pwn yu0 nubs", so to speak.

Do NOT ever play with them then. There is a reason why there is a hierarchal system of newbies, rookies, intermediates, and experts. You play with one specific group until you are ready to tackle the next.

Newbies should always be left alone because.
A. They may not have read the tutorial or play the learn to play campaign missions.
B. They don't usually play single player to get a good feel.
C. They can't think well enough to realize that they can't be slow pokes and that it doesn't go at that pace.
D. Don't play with newbies unless it's a buddy of yours in a closed game and your nursing him along. Usually in a practice/warm up game.

BTW "ub3r1337 d00dz taht pwn yu0 nubs" are usually in FPS games.

I was trying to help this guy out because he seemed polite enough but he just sat there. He harvested nothing, built about 2 ships and then allowed enough of a power gap for me to be steamrolled.

It can be...somewhat frustrating when you're playing CTF and you see one of your teammates running around with YOUR flag, trying to fight the enemy when he/she should be making hell for your base to replant the flag where it belongs. Or people who sit in one place and don't go out and put pressure on the opposing team.

If you're playing seriously, CLUELESS newbs can be annoying, but most of the time I try to help them regardless of the outcome. A grateful newb can become a powerful ally, and frankly, where would any of us be if experts didn't tolerate us when we were newbs?

N00bs in some games can be quite funny though.
Like Mechcommander. You ask if they want weapon restrictions and they say no, expecting you to pick loads of Long Toms, Gauss Rifles, PPC's, heavy Autocannons, etc. Hah! n00bs! When someone says "no weapon restrictions" experienced people know what to pick. Of course, people are only n00bs for one match 'cos they know after that to demand weapon restrictions.

Occasionally i enjoy a good Llama. It might get people angry, but that is half the sport. Its not fun if people aren't pissed off at you.

Anyway, people call Llamas newbies, but that is just stupid. Its fun. All the time, it does get old, but if it is spaced about, then it becomes a treat, especially when playing against people that spam one uber thing.

I'd like to think I've helped alot of n00bs learn the gameplay and etiquette of games in my gaming life. Of course, there's always some dickless wonder who refuses to get the idea(The worst being the sniperbitches who would occasionally overrun the FATASS server and turn the server-side training hacks into harassment tools. Tribes Bots never became sophisticated, but 30 SnipeBots kills the ping and makes life annoying.).

As for Stupid_Eggs comment about it not being fun unless the other side is angry, this is the sort of attitude displayed by the aforementioned dickless wonders.. I wish they'd grow up. Or at least hit puberty.

I can play several fps very well fairly lol but that is also very boring. After headbiting someone in AVP II for the 900th time, or invisi sniping them with cloak with pred, normal play gets old. Llamas spice it up, especially when our team is filled with newbies. Just think of it as the "spy" from TFC, just designed better.

You got the other way around. You see those that don't have time for dipshits like you and can only get in a game or two because they *gasp* HAVE A LIFE to be with, shit brain.

Edit: Just another note, for someone that wastes time idling by in games to annoy your allies you sure have a life.

Oh, Aliens vs Predator II. GOod game, but then again, some peopel choose to be faggy and mine camp themselves or grenade whore.
Using weapons is fine, but once it becomes spammy, its time to lock 'n' Llama.

Servers that also "intentionally" put host-favouring settings on just askes to be llama bait.

Speaking of wankers, the funniest one I've met was this one guy who had 11 frags and was spouting all sorts of stuff like how he was surrounded by noobs and this and that. He's also saying he's the best and how he's at the top when I'm at, what, 370 frags?

My take on the n00b situation:
If they're simply morons and put no effort into learning or playing, fuck them. If they have a real ambition to learn to play properly, I'll help them.

My take on 1337 dicks and cheaters:
Idiots. I don't get enough time to play games, and when I do get the chance nothing annoys me more than some dickhead playing in some really stupid manners just to annoy others. If I come accross these dickheads I'll simply change servers without complaining, I don't like giving anyone the satisfaction of winding me up. They're still pathetic for doing it though, and should get out more. Nitram is right in calling them dickless wonders.

I mean....if someone is generally respectful and plays the game well with out A cheating or using cheap, then the game is good and there is no reason to be an asshole like i do and LLama.

However, there are certain things that just cannot be tolerated. When all the servers turn into one buy nade spam the spawn area games, its bad.
