Fallout 3 would kick ass if it was on the East Coast

MKSheppard: We need FO3 to take some place AWAY from California
MKSheppard: anything but California
Nitram Tahalshia: Indeed. The West Coast was fun, but it's time to see the rest of the post-nuclear world.
MKSheppard: I want to see Washington DC, west virginia
MKSheppard: pennsylvania
MKSheppard: the size of California in FO1/2
MKSheppard: means you could stuff some of the smaller states into them
Nitram Tahalshia: Yea.
Nitram Tahalshia: Mind you, DC would have been reduced to a irradiated wasteland inhabitated only by mutant freakbeings.
MKSheppard: dunno
Nitram Tahalshia: Though West Virginian coal mines would make sweet dungeons.
MKSheppard: a lot of the radiation would have burned off by now
MKSheppard: over 100~ years since the big boom
Nitram Tahalshia: It's Fallout. It'd be irradiated.
MKSheppard: although there would be local hotspots that would kill you
MKSheppard: best example would be the secret base you find in fallout 1
MKSheppard: no in fallout 2
MKSheppard: thats a big hole in the ground
MKSheppard: a clicking hot hole
Nitram Tahalshia: Yea.
MKSheppard: basically create multiple hotspots like that in DC
Nitram Tahalshia: There could be lots of fun, yea. But I doubt Black Isle is planning it.
MKSheppard: and you're set.
MKSheppard: One for the Whitehouse
MKSheppard: one for the capitol
MKSheppard: etc etc
MKSheppard: and of course the pentagon
Nitram Tahalshia: Yea.
Nitram Tahalshia: But the Pentagon has sekrit dungeons underneath.
Nitram Tahalshia: And the White House has secret passages and info on the Enclave.
MKSheppard: we need commies in it somehow
MKSheppard: secret commie cells
Nitram Tahalshia: A bunch of hippies who found a copy of the Communist Manifesto in the wreckage.
MKSheppard: Tanks, we need tanks
MKSheppard: lots of tanks
Nitram Tahalshia: I'm sure we can work in some old military base that got totalled.
MKSheppard: Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Quantico, Pauxtent River Naval Air Station, Norfolk, all those are in the area
Nitram Tahalshia: Litter them with busted vehicles.
MKSheppard: Camp David
Nitram Tahalshia: A virtual treasure trove for pre-War secrets.
MKSheppard: so much more than CA
MKSheppard: and of course, it wouldn't be taking place in the west coast
MKSheppard: full of desert
MKSheppard: you'd have trees which mean cover!
Nitram Tahalshia: Making combat more tactical.
MKSheppard: too bad it will never happen
Nitram Tahalshia: Though we'd need a tree monster.

Some of the areas in Fallout 1/2 are currently forested. But in the Fallout world most of the Earth has become wasteland. There is no reason to believe there would be lots of trees just because the game takes place on the East Coast.

A change of location might be interesting especially if it ties in progress from the last to games. Perhaps the Brotherhood of Steel is expanind or the NCR continues to grow.

However, from what Ive read about Fallout 3 I think it will continue in California or at least the West/Southwest. Who knows, maybe we will see Texas or the Midwest.

East coast? Get off the friggin' continent. Europe would be a PERFECT setting for Fallout 3. There's a greater amount of historical atmosphere there... seeing it all in ruins would have a much greater impact. Just imagine finding that the Eiffel Tower had been blasted over, and its twisted and battered wreckage covers half the map...

There is not much in the canon about what happens to Europe except that they got into a war with the Middle East over the remaining oil reserves there. It would be interesting to see devastated Europe. Instead of of a 1950's theme perhaps they could do a "new dark ages" theme. You got to have Big Ben for something.

Of course there were supposed to be US military units stranded in China. That might be a odd setting. How have the two cultures merged over 160 years or so. Did they all go tribal and sit down to farm. Or did they cluster around remaining technology to try and rebuild.

And thus the vault dweller's children ventured south to Mexico, finding it and the rest of the world totally unchanged.

"Hey, we've been trying to call you guys for more then a century. You too high and mighty to answer your phones now?"

One thing is certain- the Chosen One story line is ended- no more descendants.

East Coast would be cool.

Or Europe/Russia.

You know, if Utsanomiko ACTUALLY GOT AROUND TO STARTING UP THE DAMNED d6 FALLOUT CAMPAIGN, we could all enjoy wandering through the nuclear wasteland that is Midwest.

I don't know about the Eastern Seaboard. You're talking about an area that would have been kicked with a LOT of nukes in a WWIII scenario. I'd actually like a scenario based around Chicago more, but only if they did it right RPG-style and not like they did Fallout Tactics.

If I'm ever President, and the world launches into a nuclear war, I will personally order the Ark Two shelter to be pulverized, out of spite.

Hah, Iowa comes out of it fairly okay... only about 8 nukes.
