My NES lives again!! I took away the oxide on the headers (or whatever they are called) and it's as good as new. Maybe better. It's just too bad a friend of mine has borrowed all of my games but one. But it made me come to a conclusion: Ice Climber sucks compared to Zelda 2. I miss Zelda 2 :cry: . Gotta call my friend...

We all miss the good old days (put sentimental stories here)
But we gotta face it, most of our "brothers" sold out to newer systems...
and scraped their old consoles...
So, now, all we have left is emulators...

NEIN! My brother (IRL) Has his NES still, though it needs repair. Even the famous blow in the console/cart doesn't work anymore. what I wouldn't give to be able to play Simon's quest again. Best damn castlevania ever. I still remember the cheat:

DINT XXDY 445X V3ZX

::sigh::

Blowing on the header pins only aggrivates the problem. You'll only oxidize it faster since your breathe is so moist. One solution is to get a new header, dissassemble your NES and put the new one it and pray that works.

He may not need to get a new header. I took mine out and took away and checked where the problem was. Turned out that the "motherboard" had oxide on the pins where you connect the header (don't know how the hell it got there though). I took away the oxide (with sand-paper :D ) and now it works. Yay!

Who invented this blowing anyway?

I still have my NES and SuperNES. I just use emulators since they're easier to work with, load etc. and you don't have the oxide problem.

But yeah, I still have my good ol' NES, even if the two game systems I currently have hooked up are my PS2 and my Gamecube.

Put a Mini-ITX motherboard in it and run an emulator.
