Any good wc3ers?

Anyone particularly apt at this game? I noticed it's a lot different from 2, the main differences are you really need a varied group of attackers/Hero's entourage when you fight, whereas in wc2, every one just made melee units (knights and bloodlusted ogres) and 3 other units which could do major damage- sappers and mages/death knights. Ranged attackers were only use din the paladin/ranger defense formation or to attack flying enemies like dragons, as they did less damage than melee attackers, but now they do more.
And do you try to keep the upkeep low? I was wondering if there's way I can have 5 on one gold mine, 5 on another and the upkeep low with the rest of my troops, upkeep sucks, why did they want to add it, just to make the game more challenging? I figure if I can get a steady stream of gold like that with no upkeep and since there's no limit to how many workers you can put on lumber (would have to keep that low however), I can zoom up the upgrades.
