Call of Duty is almost identical to Medal of Honour games, which is not surprising since its creators are the same people who made Medal of Honour Allied Assault. It's slightly more realistic than MOHAA, but still more or less a fun FPS shooter, which deals with the subject of war in the same way as the movies
Dirty Dozen and
Kelly's Heroes.
Soviet missions are definetely the best in the game, and if you ask me, they should've definetely concentrated more on the Eastern Front.
The crossing of Volga and assault to Stalingrad is perhaps the most amazing looking audiovisual experience I've ever witnessed. No screenshot can do justice to it. (although it's quite clear that the makers of the game have watched
Enemy at the Gates more than once
)

Assault to Stalingrad is so much better looking in game! You have Stukas flying over you, slaughtering Soviet soldiers on the ground. Artillery fire everywhere. MG42 tracers flying over your head....

Here's a better screenshot of the same thing

Freshly arrived Soviet soldiers get their weapons.

Just got it... whoa.
Multiplayer > all.
Realism and tactics required in AA:O - the downtime + a RtCW fast-pased feel. Owns the pants off Day of Defeat. My only complaint is that they FUBARed rifles in multiplayer. I didn't notice at first, as the Garand is perfectly fine (and indeed very effective, unlike it an afore-mentioned HL mod). Unfortunately, all rifles seem to be like the Garand - 8 round mag, semi auto. Only difference seems to be the weapon model.
Not a horrible sacrifice to make for kickass multiplayer, I just used an MP40 or StG44 on the German side anyways.

Looks good. Having seen the Red Square video and played the demos, I can safely say that Call of Duty>Medal of Honour (with MOH being my favourite WW2 shooter before that.)

Correction: all rifles are working properly. I appear to have just run into an obscure bug or custom server configuration.

The Stalingrad sequence is mind-bogglingly immersive, and the Reichstag mission just brings out your Red pride and makes you want to scream "For Mother Russia!!!" as you run up on to the rooftop.

I just bought it today.. still in the British campaign. But damn.. that one where you have to defend the bridge is so fucking beautiful. You really feel like you're in a British version of that last scene from Saving Private Ryan. You're running back and forth to the panzerfausts, across the bridge and trying to stop hordes of German troops.
While the germans fire at a much slower rate with their k98s as their mainstay weapon.. one shot could effectively knock you right out of the game. Beautiful

What the hell difficulty are you playing on?! That level fucking pissed me off on Hardened. If I even ran out of the bunker with the panzerfausts for a second I was instantly dead. That level was fucking bullshit, second only to the Soviet level where you have to defend the fucking apartment building.
Multiplayer > singleplayer

Hahaha, I'm just playing it on regular right now to go through the game (I was hoping for more beautiful cut scenes). Right now I'm stuck on the airfield level that is pissing me off to no end. On the one hand if I don't take out the Stukers I'm dead. If I'm trying to take out the Stukers someone snipes me. Pissing me off.

I never had any problems with that level. Cpt. Price and Sgt. Waters usually do a pretty good job of keeping you covered. When your truck arrives, kill all the Germans on the rooftop before getting in the AA gun. Take out the Stukas taking off, then pick off a few more Germans. By that time, the first wave of attacking Stukas should hit, nail them, return to infantry, back to Stukas, infantry, Stukas, etc.

I beat that level.. but I had to run between killing German snipers on the rooftop and the AA gun. My bastard teammates were no help. And it helps greatly if you turn your AA gun on the incoming trucks and blast them to hell before they unload.
Now I'm stuck on the apartment level in the Russian campaign. Damn germans just keep coming. After I've destroyed the tanks and my health is nearly down to zero after the tanks strafe me up some.. I'm holding off an infestation of germans when I get shot in the back by a whole squad that came up behind me. Frustrating.

That seene is a direct rip from the most exelent movie, The Longest Day.
