I've recently bought Homeworld used from a store which deals with used computer games, DVDs, music CDs and videos.

When I install it, it requests an "installation key" which is a code supposed to be printed on the front of the Homeworld CD jewel case.

Thing is just - I bought Homeworld in a "DVD-case" Bestseller Series edition, the way they're now sold mostly in Europe, and I can't locate the installation key code anywhere on the case!!! What should I do??

It shpuld be on the manual somewhere if it's not on the case.
If it's one of the ones that comes with a digitised manual then have a look for a Cd Key file on the disc.

Hmmm... a browse on the disc reveals a PDF-format manual.... maybe it's there. I'll check it out.

Was there a sort of leaflet thing on the inside cover? My cheapo games tend to have the CD key on the lower left of the front cover of the leaflet in question...

Yes - but I can't locate anything even resembling a CD key on the front cover of said leaflet.

It was on an extra sheet of paper AFAIK.

I'd give you mine, but well, that would be illegal and would probably get me banned from playing on the internet if they ever got arsed to do anything about it.

Return it for an exchange and tell them that the CD key was missing.

Just get one from walmart, they have the same exact thing except in the regular jewl case and they all have cd keys.

You can get a brand new copy of Homeworld for a few quid these days.

Actually, walmart is everywhere. They're even in china. If he can't find a wal-mart then he should atleast be able to find one of the numerous knock off discount mega stores. And if not then just whinge to the employees at the place you bought it till they give you a new one. And insist upon checking for a cd key before you buy it.

I am pretty sure it is the nations highest employer of elderly and mentally handicapped with its greeters program, and they have an excellent return and exchange policy, coupled with low prices. Seriously, I ambso-fucking-lutely love wally world. How can you not have it??

Whatever the explanation is, Walmart has no outlets in Denmark - at least not where I live.

Finland doesn't have Wal-mart either. I think Britain is the only European country which they've invaded, and I'm not even sure about that.
